Jones St., Chapter 7: Pages 11-12
Page 11, 7 Panels- Cashiers/Computers, Best Buy, Las Vegas NV
Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels that focus on the same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. It consists solely of Jayson's face watching the boss move toward Melanie off-panel in the first couple of panels before, in Panel 3, returning to take care of the next customer in line. As all of this takes place, you can see Shadow Jayson scribble down a note (Panel 1), place it into a high-powered crossbow (Panel 2) and firing it toward his friend (Panel 3).
Panel 4-7: A four-part set of panels that follows the trajectory of the rolled-up piece of paper as it nears its target. With each of the first three panels, you can see a little more of Melanie talking with the two customers just as they're about to finish up the purchase. By Panel 7, however, it goes splat on top of a display cover for Beauty and the Beast, hitting the Beast particularly in a white smear.
BOSS [Off-Panel, Panel 7]: HAYNES!
Page 12, 5 Panels- EPB Bookstore, Jones St., Las Vegas NV
Panel 1: Cut to a shot of an irate customer back in EPB, screaming at the top of their lungs. He’s a gentleman in his early 50s, slightly chubby in physique, with dark hair, glasses and a dark black buttoned up shirt. You can see a section of the store in the background, along with the front (albeit faintly) of another customer standing behind him.
CUSTOMER #2 [to Tara]: Elizabeth Haynes! How difficult is this? I'm looking for Dark Tide by Elizabeth. Haynes!
Panel 2: Back to Tara at the cash register, doing his best to try to diffuse the tense situation (which we’ve been seemingly dropped into in terms of the rest of the page); his hands extended outward in a defensive fashion. You can see the register itself to the right of the panel view, along with his energy bar which is registering at 9% at this point in time which shows in the words he speaks.
TARA [to Customer, explanatory stammer]: Sir, it’s not…it’s not really…it’s not a matter of wh—whether it’s difficult or not. We don’t r—really offer—
Panel 3: Back to the Customer in the same setting and layout as Panel 1. There’s also the same background behind him as he laughs incredulously at the display he’d seen, flashing an annoyed grin at the long wait that’s preceded this.
CUSTOMER [shaking his head in disbelief, muttering to himself]: Jesus Christ…this is what I get for trying to buy local!
Panel 4-5: It starts in Panel 4 in the same setting/layout as the previous panel. The Customer begins to look over to the left, turning his body in that direction as if about to storm out of the store momentarily. In Panel 5, as he moves away shaking his head and muttering something in the neighborhood “fucking retarded idiot! I'll just get it on…,”you can hear a loud “THUD!”
TARA [Off-Panel, mutter-singing; Panel 4]: "I'm the last and best stick of the gum in the pack, I'm..."
