Jones St., Chapter 8: Pages 23-25

Page 23, 7 Panels- Outside Melanie's Apartment Building, Las Vegas NV

Panel 1: Action shot of Mr. Myers moving over to a section of fence near the streetlight ten steps away from where the two of them stood at the end of the previous page. We see the back of Melanie's face at the same moment, watching him move on.

Panel 2: Cut to a shot of Melanie's face a second later, starting to move over in the young man's direction as he works. There's a look of curiosity that is mixed thoroughly with a large amount of intrigue over just what he's planning to do then and there. You can see a section of the street behind her in the background.

MELANIE [looking for hints, to Tara]: Umm...mind filling me in what you're thinking there, T?

Panel 3: Back to Tara a few inches in front of the fence moments later. He addresses her while sitting on the ground keeping the bulk of his focus on the phone that is propped up in between a gap of the fence, using a sock from his right shoe, as well as the shoe that he's putting back on as he speaks.

TARA [to Melanie]: How good of a dancer are you?

Panel 4: Back to Melanie in a similar close-up on her face that we saw in Panel 2, along with the same layout and background behind her. The question sates her curiosity somewhat, though without tamping down the intrigue that was visible in her face then.

MELANIE [pondering as she speaks]: Huh...probably somewhere between competent and crap. TARA [Off-Panel]: Neither am I, which should make this...

Panel 5-6: Back to Tara in Panel 5 the same setting and layout as Panel 3. With his shoe back on his now bare foot, he reaches over to press Play on the Pandora app once again after turning the volume up in the previous panel. In Panel 6, moments later, the young man stands up extending his hand out in Ms. Haynes direction as the song ("Soul Love" by David Bowie) continues on from the opening melodies that emerged from the previous panel.

TARA [slight chuckle, Panel 5]: Maybe 12% less awkward. Hopefully. DAVID BOWIE [from the phone, Panel 6]: "Stone love, she kneels before the grave A brave son, who gave his life"

TARA [loving smile, Panel 6]: If you would care to join me...

Panel 7: Cut to a close-up of their hands joining over one another a second later; Melanie's visible from the right of the panel view, and Tara's to the left. You can see the concrete of the sidewalk in the background of the shot.

DAVID BOWIE [Off-Panel]: "To save the slogans That hovers between the headstone and her eyes For they penetrate her grieving"

Panel 1-3: We move to a shot of the two of them slow dancing underneath the streetlight that we saw earlier in the background; the music coming in from the left of each panel's view. In each panel, you can see the layout slowly but surely zoom in on their faces as the song goes on. Then...

DAVID BOWIE [Panel 1]: "New love, a boy and girl are talking" DAVID BOWIE [Panel 2]: "New words, that only they can share in" DAVID BOWIE [Panel 3]: "New words, a love so strong it tears their hearts"

Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. The two of them go in and kiss each other with a little bit of a proactive move from Melanie. Behind them, you can see the same explosion of hearts with #swoon in the middle of them that we saw in stylized flashback form earlier in the story. In the lower right corner of the page, outside of the panel, you can see a young man with shaggy thinning blonde hair and a brown tabby cat on his lap; he’s holding a whiteboard in front of him that reads “And they lived their happily ever after…”

DAVID BOWIE [from the left]: "To sleep through the fleeting hours of morning."
