INT. GATE 17A, HANEDA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, TOKYO JAPAN
PANEL 1: Cut to Adam at the same moment that the disruption emerges from Reggie's phone; the setting and layout similar to what we saw in Panel 4 of the previous page. He grimaces and draws his head away from the receiver for a moment as the noise continues on. Amidst the noise, you can hear what appears to be the shreds of words coming from the speaker area.
PANEL 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A couple of seconds later, as the sound level goes down, he presses the phone back to his ear to resume the conversation. While this happens, the young man takes a few steps forward to catch up to the line as it moves forward to the right of the panel view.
ADAM [looking for an answer, into the receiver]: Hello...Re--Reggie? ADAM [thought bubble]: Must be hitting a dead zone!
PANEL 3-4: A two-part set of panels centered on the same setting and layout as the previous two panels. In Panel 3, Adam finishes the conversation as the line continues forward again. And in Panel 4, a few beats after that, the phone is off and he slides it back into his messenger bag as the flight attendant at the podium is visible to the right of the panel view.
ADAM [following the line of thought, Panel 3]: 'Kay, if you can hear me on the other end, I'll--I'll see ya in...however long it takes to get to San Francisco from here. CAPTION [bottom left area, Panel 4]: 11 Hours, 5 Minutes

PANEL 1: Action shot, showing Mr. de Connick's back to the reader, as he hands his pass over to the Emirates Airlines flight attendant who is visible in the center of the shot. Next to her, you can see the tunnel leading to the plane itself along with a few of the other passengers that preceded Adam.
ADAM [narration caption]: "Okay, let's go through the checklist."
INT. FLIGHT 2422- A Few Minutes Later
PANEL 2-3: Cut to a shot of a line of four items strewn out over both panels on a tray table, connected spiritually in terms of the scene (though separated by their respective panel barriers), where Adam happens to be sitting. From left to right- sleeping pills, iPad (Panel 2), liter of Dr. Pepper, a list of flight numbers and dates on a piece of paper (Panel 3)
CAPTION [above the medication bottle, Panel 2]: "Lunestra, to help out with sleep (probably somewhere around Europe) if I need it- check!" CAPTION [above the iPad, Panel 2]: "iPad full of comics and episodes of The Flash and The Handmaid's Tale that I missed while in Japan- check!" CAPTION [above the Dr. Pepper, Panel 3]: "Dr. Pepper, for its delicious sugary nirvana that'll pass the looonnng hours- check!" CAPTION [above the flight numbers, Panel 3]: "And the flight itinerary from Priceline to help remind me which gates at which stops I have to switch on my way homeward- check!"
PANEL 4: Cut to a shot of Adam leaning back in his seat, staring up above him toward the luggage compartment area, as the plane starts to gather up speed. There is a mix of anxiety and happy excitement in his eyes and body language as he speaks. You can see the seat behind him in the background, along with the top of the seat and the tops of the other passengers immediately behind the young man.
ADAM [to himself, psyching himself up]: My third time on a plane...should be enough to keep my brain from going hazardously haywire. Now if I can just deal with the--
PANEL 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A split second later, the plane starts to make its ascent upward; the sensation of which is quite agonizing on his end, clutching the armrests of his seat tightly.
ADAM [thought bubble]: AHHHHHHHHH! FLARKFLARKFLARKFLAAAA---
