Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 1: Pages 13-14

PAGE 13

INT. LOBBY, KEIO PLAZA HOTEL, TOKYO JAPAN

PANEL 1: Cut to a shot of Adam a minute later after taking a few steps inside the lobby of the hotel; the woman we saw earlier at the end of the previous page is visible, standing in the doorway and calling out to the (in her eyes) celebrity.

WOMAN [to Adam, in a sort of yell]: Hey! Hey, I love your autobi--

PANEL 2: Close-up on the woman a split second later, catching herself before she could say the rest of what she was about to say. Her eyes happen to glance away to her right, flashing a degree of nervousness that is evident in the words coming out of her mouth.

WOMAN [muttering, to herself]: Oh right, no interacting with anyone from the past- "causes too much drama potentially in the present."

PANEL 3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A second later, the woman shifts her gaze to a thin FitBit-sized time travel watch on her wrist where you can hear a "RING! RING!..." sound bubbling up from it.

WOMAN [sighs]: Already? I was hoping to visit the Great Barrier Reef, see how pretty it was before it went all womply and gross looking.

PANEL 4: Cut to a shot of her turning around and walking back out toward the front of the hotel; the folding doors can be seen closing behind her as she types away on a three-dimensional keypad that emerges from the center of the time travel watch.

WOMAN [comes up with an idea]: There's enough juice though that...maybe I can leave a note on his room before I have to go back.

INT. HALLWAY, KEIO PLAZA HOTEL, TOKYO JAPAN

PANEL 5: We move to an action shot of Adam a few minutes later in the hallway leading to his room. There are a couple of other people of various ages in the background moving in and out of their respective rooms at the same time.

WOMAN [Cont., caption]: If what I read about people in this time period holds out, he'll probably think it was just a random girl he met in the hotel.

PANEL 6: A few minutes later, we see Mr. de Connick standing in front of his room, looking off-panel right where the door is located. You can see a look of creeped-out disbelief over the folded up note discovery.

WOMAN [caption]: Or a weird stalker that he'll just put out of his mind. Either way- free and clear of messing with time.

PAGE 14

PANEL 1: He has the note in both hands moments later, reading it silently in front of his hotel room door that is visible in the right of the panel view; the creeped-out look from the end of the previous page has shifted to a look of confusion as he reads.

PANEL 2: Cut to a close-up of the note itself, with its creases representing how it had been folded up multiple times, which reads- "I know it seems like life is a terrible bore right now. But in very due time, it won't be."

PANEL 3-4: A two-part set of panels that moves back to the same setting and layout as the page's first panel. In Panel 3, Adam is visibly disturbed by what he's read, looking up from the letter in Panel 4 to figure out what to do next.

FRONT DESK AGENT [caption, Panel 4]: I'm sorry for your troubles, Mr. de Connick.

INT. FRONT LOBBY, KEIO PLAZA HOTEL, TOKYO JAPAN

PANEL 5: We move to a shot of the Front Desk Agent standing in the lobby, glancing down at a computer screen typing; her phone pressed up to her right ear as she's talking. You can see the oak wall in the background with a gorgeous painting hanging directly behind her.

FRONT DESK AGENT [Cont.]: Let me check the CCTV, see if we can find out this mystery person you speak of--

PANEL 6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A few moments have passed, and the action on the screen has seemingly frozen the Front Desk Agent in place without a word; the phone still gripped in her right hand as was the case in Panel 5.

ADAM [from the receiver]: Hello...?
