Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 1: Pages 21-22

PAGE 21

PANEL 1-2: A two-part set of panels that moves back to the Ood over the course of a few moments. In Panel 1, a drinks cart opens up from the base of the machine, raised up to the middle of its torso area where the businessman grabs the cup of Diet Coke off of it by the time we reach Panel 2.

ADAM [Off-Panel thought bubble, Panel 1]: I know I was riding the anxiety wave and lost in my own head (as usual), but... ADAM [Cont. off-panel thought bubble, Panel 2]: I'm pretty damn sure I would've noticed a robot flight attendant named after a squid faced alien slave from "Doctor Who" (not sure what to think about that part).

PANEL 3: Back to Adam again a beat later, comprising of an action shot; his right hand moving the screen away from the movie to another part of the tablet while in thought. You can see the seat behind the upper torso and his head in the background.

ADAM [thought bubble]: Maybe a little Google snooping can help clear the confusion a bit.

PANEL 4: Cut to a screenshot of his tablet a few beats later after opening up the browser icon. In the address bar, you can see that he's already typed in "google.com." However, the main body of the page is primarily white while a green streak underneath the address bar moves from left to right.

ADAM [frustrated, Off-Panel thought bubble]: C'mon, c'mon...

PANEL 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel, taking place a short time after. The green bar has quickly disappeared, and the body of the page reads very simply- "Webpage incompatible with Wi-Fi servers."

ADAM [Off-Panel thought bubble]: That's new...

PANEL 6: Back to a close-up of Mr. de Connick's face a second later, trying to wrap his head around the meaning of the message. You can see his face scrunched up in a position that is most compatible with deep thought and confusion.

ADAM [Cont., thought bubble]: Probably just a tech issue! Let's see if I can't... PILOT [Off-Panel, from the intercom]: Hello folks, this is your Captain speaking.

PANEL 1: Cut to a shot of the plane a beat later going up to the cockpit area, showing the backs of the other passengers' heads. You can see by this and the slight variations in the overhead bins as well as the seats themselves that the overall design of the plane is different compared to what we saw earlier in the chapter.

PILOT [Cont., from the intercom]: My apologies if you were taking a siesta just now, but I thought you should know that we've just past Stockton on our way to San Francisco.

PANEL 2-3: A two-part set of panels that moves to a reaction shot of Adam's face, one of surprise in Panel 2 upon hearing the rest of the Pilot's message. In Panel 3, he turns his attention to the right off-panel in the direction of someone sitting next to him.

PILOT [Cont., Off-Panel; Panel 2]: If you look out the right side of the plane, you should be able to see... ADAM [surprised thought bubble, Panel 2]: We're almost home already? That can't be right. Last I heard, we were still going through Eastern Europe. PILOT [Off-Panel, Panel 3]: We should be back at Bonds-Jobs Airport in another...20 minutes or so. Just enough time... ADAM [thought bubble, Panel 3]: Hopefully this dude has a clue about these Ood things. ADAM [to fellow passenger ignoring rest of the message, courteous yet timid; Panel 3]: Excuse me...?

PANEL 4: Cut to a shot of the person sitting next to Adam, a rotund man dressed in a weathered San Jose Sharks T-shirt celebrating a Stanley Cup run and reading a newspaper emanating from a thin glass tablet-like device displaying news about "skirmishes in the Italian border barriers." You can see in the background the twinkle of lights and stars outside out the window.

ADAM [Cont., Off-Panel]: Excuse me, sir! PASSENGER [glances from periphery at Adam]: Mmm?

PANEL 5: Back to Adam in a side shot a second later, looking over at the taller gentleman with the same type of courteous timidity that he displayed in Panel 3 as he goes on to the bulk of his question. You can see the aisle behind him in the background, along with the row of seats that happen to be just across from his.

ADAM: I was wondering if I could peak past you and catch a glimpse of the window. It's been awhile since I've been back home, and I'd really love to see it before we touch down.

PANEL 6: Back to the mystery passenger in the same setting/layout as Panel 4. He shakes his head at the request, swiping with his right hand to the next section on his tablet newspaper as he speaks.

PASSENGER [apologetically]: Sorry. Third Eye goggles are only accessible to Prime Gold passengers.
