Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 2: Pages 3-4

PAGE 3

PANEL 1-2: A two-part set of panels that follows Adam over the course of a few moments; his back to the reader, looking over the stacks of books and electronic charging accessories. In the background of Panel 1, you can hear a beeping hovering off-panel in the background leading up to the second panel when it ends at a single beep while he looks over a green bracelet with the words "iBracelet Wi-Fi Charger" on it.

ADAM [slight scoff, to himself; Panel 2]: Only Apple would try to make wireless charge fashionable...! SALES BUDDY [Off-Panel]: Potential Sale detected...culling information.

PANEL 3: Cut back to the front cashier area where, from the bottom of the touchscreen, you can see a circular dot that is slightly larger than a watch battery ejecting and moving to the right of the panel view. The cashier, meanwhile, remains in the same position he was in earlier, scrolling down while mildly acknowledging the development with a nod and "Hmm...!"

SALES BUDDY [from the touchscreen, robotic voice]: Sufficient macro-information gathered. Deploying SalesBuddy!

PANEL 4-6: A three-part set of panels that, for the first two of the panels, follows the device's trajectory in the air; the roof of the small building visible in the background. In Panel 6, we see the device start to make its descent next to Mr. de Connick as he makes a turn with his back to the reader to an aisle marked NewsTabs.

ADAM [hopeful, Panel 6]: Hmm...NewsTabs. Not exactly a great name, but should do the job.

PANEL 1-2: A two-part set of panels that starts out showing Adam, in a sideshot, looking at the screen of one of the NewsTabs with a great deal of fascination. In Panel 2, a few moments later, he's startled by the sudden holographic apparition (SalesBuddy) that has suddenly appeared in front of him.

ADAM [to himself, Panel 1]: Pretty graphics...almost like holding a newspaper again. I'm surprised Google was behind something this efficent and pretty... SALESBUDDY [to Adam, Panel 2]: Hello, new customer... ADAM [shocked, Panel 2]: GAHH!

PANEL 3: Cut to a frontal shot of SalesBuddy with a big digital grin on their face. They're dressed in a fine light blue suit that matches the rest of the skin that makes up the hologram from top to bottom; the circular device spinning and levitating on the floor off-panel. You can see the rest of the aisleway in the background leading to the bag, part of which is covered in the same light blue color of the hologram.

SALESBUDDY [courteously]: My names is SalesBuddy. How can I help you today?

PANEL 4: Back to Adam in a similar looking frontal shot that SalesBuddy was given in the previous panel. He's visibly trying to regain his train of thought, gazing on the weird hologram standing in front of him.

ADAM [to SalesBuddy]: Right, umm--Buddy...do I call you Buddy? SALESBUDDY [Off-Panel]: You can call me SalesBuddy. ADAM [Bubble 2]: Okay. SalesBuddy...

PANEL 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. After a moment of inward thought, he finally comes up with something, showing the NewsTab in his hand out to the sales hologram as he speaks. You can see the preview screen on the tablet, along with a person off in the distance in the background who happens to be passing by the walkway at the same moment.

ADAM [Cont.]: How much does one of these NewsTabs cost?

PANEL 6: We cut back to SalesBuddy in the same setting and layout as Panel 3; the tablet, along with Mr. de Connick's hand, visible from the right bottom corner of the panel. As the hologram speaks, a single red beam emanates from its left eye, hitting the device's top half.

SALESBUDDY: Ah, the Google NewsTab 4- an electronic tablet introduced to the market on November 26th of 2036...
