Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 2: Pages 5-6

PAGE 5

PANEL 1: Cut to a shot of Adam's face observing the holographic worker as it continues blurting out technical factoids on the device, letting it sink in as best as possible even as he feels steadily overwhelmed by the details mentioned.

SALESBUDDY [Cont., Off-Panel]: 500 accessible newspapers, including the Chron, and translated into two-dozen languages such as... ADAM [thought bubble as it chatters into incomprehensibility]: Oh balls, I just realized- what if the debit card's locked? 20 years of inaction, it'd make sense.

PANEL 2-3: A two-part set of panels that moves back to SalesBuddy moments later in the same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. In Panel 2, the hologram is locked in the same position that we saw it then, examining the tablet as it spoke. In Panel 3, seconds later, the red beam is off and Buddy turns its attention back to the young man to state the price; the device lowering down in perspective to the bottom of the panel view.

SALESBUDDY [Panel 2]: Calculating price...calculating... SALESBUDDY [Cont., Panel 3]: 399 PatCos. Pay at the cashier's desk please, if you wish to purchase it.

PANEL 4: Back to a shot of the top half of Adam's body looking down at the device in thought; the setting and layout behind him similar to when we saw him in Panel 5 of the previous page. As he thinks to himself, you can hear a series of gears and whooshes emanating from the SalesBuddy device as the hologram fades and returns to its prior configuration.

ADAM [thought bubble]: "PatCos?" Okay, now I'm infinitely more nervous about the card not working!

PANEL 5-7: A three-part set of panels that cuts to a shot of the messenger bag's front zipper pocket, showing the young man take out a wallet from within the zippered hatch, revealing it in full by the time we reach Panel 7. It's at this aforementioned Panel 7 that its design is revealed to be a rainbow colored infinity symbol on a green leather background.

ADAM [Off-Panel thought bubble caption; Panel 5]: Please please please, whoever's up here...let this work! 'Cause I seriously don't wanna be poor in the future. ADAM [Cont. Off-Panel thought bubble caption, Panel 6]: Even if it may be better looking in parts than being poor back in 2018.

PANEL 1: We move back to the front desk of the store a minute later; the setting and layout is similar to what we saw in his first appearance earlier in the chapter. The cashier is looking over at Adam's debit card with a sense of incredulity on his face. You can see his NewsTab is laying on the counter, screen down, to his left as he speaks, along with Adam's NewsTab which is positioned in front of the cashier.

PANEL 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel along with the same pieces of the layout. A few seconds later, he looks back up from the card toward the young man again, barely holding in a laugh as he speaks.

CASHIER [shakes his head, to Adam]: Sir, this card is definitely not going to work for you, sir. Unless it's with one of those thrift shops like they have in Oakland. You need to take this and go through Currency Translation, if you want to, ya know...live properly.

PANEL 3: Cut to a close-up of Mr. de Connick's face a second later, flashing a curious eyebrow at the statement. You can see a section of the store, including some displays immediately behind him, in the background.

ADAM [to Cashier]: Currency Translation? Where's that?

PANEL 4: Back to the Cashier in the same setting/layout as Panel 2. He takes a step to the right toward the touchscreen register, pointing out with his left hand toward the exit as he explains the directions.

CASHIER: It's on the ground floor, near Baggage Claim.

INT. GROUND FLOOR, BONDS-JOBS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

PANEL 5: We move to an action shot of Adam with his carry-ons walking along the ground floor area of the airport, checking out the scenery and the other people walking by him as he makes his way to Currency Translation.

PANEL 6: Cut to a shot of the office itself, located at the end of the hall; a string of bodies can be seen coming inside, with young Adam a small distance away at this point. You can see the corresponding Baggage Claim building next door to the left, which is considerably smaller in size compared to Currency Translation.

ADAM [thought bubble]: Before the money though, I wonder if my luggage somehow made it through the time jump.
