Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 2: Pages 13-14

PAGE 13

PANEL 1: Cut back to Adam in the same setting and layout as Panel 5 of the previous page. The grin on his face is still visible as he types away at the name on the tablet's touchscreen keyboard. In the background, you can see the side shot of a family heading out to the Arrivals area

ADAM [to himself as he types]: Hopefully Reg is still awake. The last thing I'd want is to wake her while she...

PANEL 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The young man's train of thought is suddenly interrupted by a quick "BEEP!" that emanates from the robot off-panel right, taking him aback by what he hears.

CD-70 [Off-Panel right]: Sorry, cannot find a match for "Regina Pullman."

ADAM [surprised, to CD-70]: Really? Guess she finally must have retired and moved to that little cottage in Edinburgh.

CD-70 [Bubble 2, Off-Panel right]: She did not move.

PANEL 3: Cut to a shot of the robot's touchscreen tablet a moment later, showing to the off-panel Mr. de Connick a display of a DMV profile of Reggie with the words "DECEASED- 12.25.2030" in red underneath her photo.

CD-70 [Cont.]: She passed away.

PANEL 4: Back to Adam once more in the same setting/layout as Panel 2, mouth agape at the news. You can see on his face, especially the quickly reddening eyes, that he's struggling to come to grips with this development.

ADAM [thought bubble]: I...Wow. She wasn't even older than I was when I last saw her. Huh...

ADAM [audible]: How did she die? CD-70 [Off-Panel]: Colorectal cancer...Anyone else you want to call?

PANEL 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A few moments after the questions, Adam is seen trying to pull himself back into the conversation, sparked by another idea that pops into his head at that moment.

ADAM [as he types]: How about Amanda de Connick? She's my sister. Is she still alive--in the city?

PANEL 6: Back to a shot of the touchscreen tablet on the CD unit moments later; the setting and layout similar as it was in Panel 3. The profile of Reggie is gone, and it's returned to the same message screen that was visible as the end of Page 11. Though all that's seen at this point is the word "Searching..."

PAGE 14

PANEL 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. A few moments later, the "Searching..." message is gone, and replaced by the same type of informative profile that was on display earlier with Reggie. The only difference is that her last name is "deConnick-Rogers" rather than simply "deConnick."

CD-70: There is a Amanda deConnick-Rogers who currently resides in San Mateo, and she appears very much to be living.

PANEL 2: Cut to a shot of Adam seeing the news; the setting and layout similar to what we saw in Panel 5 of the previous page, along with the same ever changing background of people coming in and out of the airport's main lobby.

ADAM [thought bubble]: Hmm, she looks like Mom...could be her.

PANEL 3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Mr. de Connick is taken out of his train of thought by the words of the droid in front of him. The train of people behind him in the background has trickled to only a few coming in and out as he speaks.

CD-70 [Off-Panel, to Adam]: Would you like for me to call her? ADAM [shakes his head, to CD-70]: No, it's fine. I--I can get there on my own.

EXT. RIDE SHARE ALLEY, BONDS-JOBS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

PANEL 4: Cut to an action shot of Adam holding his individual pieces of luggage walking up the sidewalk; his eyes looking over to his left in the direction of a string of Lyft and Hermes cars (a few of which are visible on the edge of the panel view).

ADAM [thought bubble]: I really hope that's sis, 'cause I'd rather not spend my first hours in a new decade in a jail cell.

PANEL 5: Slight close-up on the young man a moment later; the action and motivation of the character is similar to what we saw in the previous panel. The setting has changed slightly to show the forward progression he's made up the sidewalk at the same moment. You can see a little more of the available rides visible on the street to the right of the panel view.

ADAM [Cont., thought bubble]: I could use a nice meal, a good bed...a long ass shower (if they even still have showers in the future).
