Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 2: Pages 17-18

PAGE 17

PANEL 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. A couple of beats later, he turns his attention back to young Mr. de Connick for his follow-up question; the front door to the ride share vehicle just about to close as he speaks.

LOBBYIST [Cont., to Adam]: Do you have this case with you, son?

PANEL 2: Cut back to Adam standing across from him at this moment; the setting and layout behind him similar to what we saw in Panel 5 of the previous page. He keeps a straight face while he tries to come up with the next piece of the ruse.

ADAM [to Lobbyist]: Not on me, no. But I--I think I saw it with a friend of mine working over in Lost & Found.

PANEL 3-4: A two-part set of panels that move back to the lobbyist in the same setting and layout as Panel 1. In Panel 3, the old man glances down at the sidewalk in thought; his left hand gently gripping the top of the metal door. In Panel 4, he glances back at Adam the moment that he speaks to him.

LOBBYIST [to himself, Panel 3]: The meeting with New Shanghai's in another hour and a half. If I run there and back, I should be able to get back in time to... ADAM [Off-Panel, Panel 4]: I can hold it for you till you come back. LOBBYIST [Panel 4]: Really? Nice! Thanks...

PANEL 5: Action shot of the Lobbyist taking off as fast as he can, crossing by the young man who looks on in the background narrowly avoiding the man's shoulder. You can see a "VOOOM!" sound effect moving from left to right in the top of the panel view.

LOBBYIST [thought bubble]: Mindless drone!

PANEL 6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Moments later, with the man gone from view, Adam observes with a slightly skeezed out look on his face. The sound effect that was in play in that aforementioned Panel 5 starts to fade out of view from that same position at the same moment.

ADAM [thought bubble]: Entitled creepazoid...!

INT. HERMES CAR- Minutes Later

PANEL 1: Cut to an interior shot of the car minutes later. Adam is seated in what is considered the driver's seat of the car; his eyes glancing around the console quickly in search of any type of keys or trigger function on it. You can see his luggage placed in the backseat in the background of the panel.

ADAM [to himself]: Okay, automated car...I think. Few decades of technological improvements- my guess is it should have some type of an "ON" button around here somewhere.

PANEL 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. After a few more moments of searching, he's drawn down to a corner of the console by the automated voice that pops into view from the lower left area of the panel view.

CAR [Off-Panel]: New Fare Detected...

PANEL 3: Cut to the passenger's seat a second later where appears a holographic image of the Greek Messenger God Hermes; the beam of energy from the console area shown from the same lower left area as the previous panel.

HERMES [to Adam, Italian accent]: Hello, sir/madam/them/genderless fellow/MAman. Where would you like to be taken to today?

PANEL 4-5: A two-part set of panels that moves to a close-up of Mr. de Connick, taking in the moment with a touch of a weirded out apprehension (at least in Panel 4). Then, in Panel 5, a smile comes over half of his face as the car's engines come to life for the first time.

ADAM [to Hermes, Panel 4]: 1456 Woodbury Avenue, San Mateo please. HERMES [Off-Panel, Panel 5]: Engines starting...
