Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 3: Pages 1-2
PAGE 1
EXT. AMANDA'S HOUSE, SAN MATEO CALIFORNIA- Night
PANEL 1: We open on a shot of the same scene that was there to close the previous chapter- the reunion between Adam and his sister Amanda, albeit from a different perspective on the still young man. He's got his luggage gripped in both hands, and his carry-on over his right shoulder. You can see the street behind him in the background, along with a few other similar looking houses across the street.
ADAM [to Amanda, courteous yet apprehensive]: If this is who I think it is...this is gonna be a lot. Mainly 'cause--it is a lot. If I'm wrong though--don't call the cops on me! I'll leave and never bug you...
PANEL 2-3: A two-part set of panels that focus on the same setting and layout as the previous panel. In Panel 2, his train of thought is interrupted by a screeching Off-Panel scream from his now older sister. A few seconds later, in Panel 3, Adam's eyes track down at the "THUD!" sound of her collapsing onto the floor.
ADAM [thought bubble, Panel 3]: Yep, just like Part II...though hopefully without any brain damage!
INT. LIVING ROOM, AMANDA'S HOUSE- Minutes Later
PANEL 4: Cut to a shot of the older Ms. de Connick lying on the couch, firmly in between fully awake and fully asleep, moving from side-to-side. To the left of the panel view, you can see the edge of a coffee table along with the bottom half of a NewsReader that
happens to be placed on it.
AMANDA [thought bubble]: This is...This is impossible! He looks like my brother, but--he's dead. I was there at his funeral. Then again, it's Flight 2422. There was a lot of weirdness attached to that flight, but I thought it was just an Internet tall tale... ADAM [Off-Panel right, to Amanda]: Cups, cups...
INT. KITCHEN, AMANDA'S HOUSE
PANEL 5: Action shot of Adam, as this goes on, of the young man searching the cabinets for the aforementioned cups. Below them is the counter complete with different types of futuristic looking kitchen wares (including what looks like a pancake maker with a large flap in the center).
ADAM [Cont., to himself]: Where are the cups? Should be here somewhere. LEXY [from the top of the speaker]: Stop where you are, sir.
PANEL 6: Cut to a ceiling shot, showing a red beam shining down and hitting the panicked Mr. de Connick in the forehead. You can see the tiled floor in the background, along with a little more of the counter and the aforementioned hi-tech kitchen appliances to the left of the panel view.
LEXY [Cont.]: If you leave this room before the DNA/Biometric scan is complete, you will be considered a robber and the nearest San Francisco Police Department vehicle will be notified...
PAGE 2
PANEL 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page, under a minute later. What was once a bright red hue that drifted down into the scene is now an equally bright green which catches the young man off guard as he listens to the smart house program speak.
SOUND EFFECT: DING! LEXY [Off-Panel top corner left]: Scan complete. DNA match established to the primary owner of the house, Amanda de Connick-Welsh. Have a great rest of your evening... ADAM [to Lexy, creeped out yet trying to appear courteous]: Okay, uh...thanks.
PANEL 2: Slight close-up on Adam's face a second later. With the slightly tinged weirdness/coolness of the moment sinking in, he tries to steer the conversation back to what brought him to the kitchen in the first place.
ADAM [Cont.]: Um...hey. AMANDA [Off-Panel, to Adam]: Hey. ADAM [Bubble 2]: Do you happen to know where the coffee cups are? AMANDA [Off-Panel, Bubble 2]: Top shelf, third cabinet to your left.
PANEL 3: We move to a shot of Amanda staring at Adam (whose back is visible in the foreground of the panel view), standing five feet away from his brother in the walkway that leads to the kitchen. You can see the shock of the truth sinking into her face as she observes her now suddenly appeared brother standing in front of her.
AMANDA [Cont.]: It's the one with...with the Stanley Cup on it. ADAM: Oh coolio. Thanks...
PANEL 4-6: A three-part set of panels that moves to a single side shot showing the two siblings (Amanda to the left, Adam to the right) standing in the same position unmoved that they were in the previous panel; the cabinets, counters, and different hi-tech kitchen appliances on display in the background. In the first two of the three panels, they stay in precisely this position. Then, in Panel 6, the silence is broken by one simple mid-scream.
AMANDA [Panel 5, surprised/reddened eyes]: It's...It's really you, isn't it? ADAM [nods, Panel 5]: Yep. It's me...sis. AMANDA [Panel 5, Bubble 2]: Incredible... AMANDA [Cont. teary eyes, Panel 6]: WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOU?!
PANEL 7: Cut to a close-up on the two of them a few moments later embracing in a simple, warm hug between the two siblings. You can see a section of the cabinets and counter that was in the background earlier behind them now at this point in time.
AMANDA [caption]: "Time Travel...that's actually not as absurd as you think it is."
