Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 3: Pages 9-10

PAGE 9

INT. BATHROOM, AMANDA'S HOUSE

PANEL 1: Cut to Amanda standing over in the bathroom mirror, popping one of the pills into her right hand. She glances over to her left in the opened doorway off-panel to address Adam at the same time. In the lower section of the panel view, over to the right, you can see an electric toothbrush with a circular speaker-like apparatus where the brush head lies.

AMANDA [disbelieving grin, to Adam]: Do I really need to explain the intricacies of marriage?

INT. LIVING ROOM, AMANDA'S HOUSE

PANEL 2: We move back to Adam in the living room. He shakes his head, and starts to reach out to the NewsReader tablet that has been lying on the edge of the coffee table; his eyes glancing up at the same time in the direction of the bathroom to talk to her sister as he speaks.

ADAM [clarifying, to Amanda]: I know that part. That's not what I meant. I mean...what's the story behind it? How did you and whoever was the...Umm...

PANEL 3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. With the small-ish tablet in hand, and moving down to a placement to his lap, the young man leans back into his chair; his eyes looking over in the same direction that we saw them in back in Panel 2.

ADAM [Cont.]: I just thought of something. Should I be preparing an explanation for who I am in case of tiny little (or not so tiny little) humans who may also be living here? AMANDA [Off-Panel]: HAHAHA...you're okay, bro!

INT. BATHROOM, AMANDA'S HOUSE

PANEL 4-5: Back to Amanda initially in Panel 4 in the bathroom (with the same panel layout as Panel 1) moments after taking the assortment of pills that she was taking at that moment. We move to Panel 5 with her in mid-stride out of the doorway of the bathroom back to join her brother.

AMANDA [Cont., Panel 4]: I do have one kid, but she's a Sophomore over at UCLA and won't be back here for another few weeks. As for the "story," well--it started simple enough. AMANDA [Panel 4, Bubble 2]: Girl meets Boy, Girl falls in love with Boy, Girl establishes a nice life and family. Then Boy becomes a dickish cliche of himself with another young Girl and I jettison him to the terrible Garry Marshall movie he probably spawned from. AMANDA [playful smile, Panel 5]: I kept the last name mainly because it had a nice ring to it, and trying to change it at the DMV as a Hellish pain in the ass.

PAGE 10

PANEL 1: Cut to Adam at his chair in the same setting and layout as Panel 3 of the previous page. He's turning on the screen to the NewsReader, glancing up from his periphery toward his sister as she walks back into the room.

ADAM [seeing her point, to Amanda]: I can see why you kept the Walsh. It does kinda sounds like a 19th century English baronness. Or a member of the Lords, which does have its own coolness! AMANDA [Off-Panel]: Hahaha...

PANEL 2-3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel, which also applies to Panel 3. We see the young man starting to scroll and read the news popping up on the 10-inch sized electronic device. In the next panel, a few moments later, his reading's stopped by an audible growl emanating from the pit of his stomach. That and a familiar voice

ADAM [to himself, Panel 2]: White people are still garbage...There's another mega-fire the state's fighting, making the air crappy for most of us. ADAM [Cont.; Panel 2, Bubble 2]: 4chan has their own streaming platform...[scared/disgusted shudder]! On the plus side, there are now 3D printed donut machines, which I...very much need in my life immed-- LEXY [Off-Panel top left, Panel 3]: Searching Nearby Restaurants... ADAM [startled, looking up from the screen; Panel 3]: The hell...?!

PANEL 4: Cut to a shot of the front screen area of the CAT, which now reveals what appears to be a Google-type map search screen revealing a listing of restaurants and fast food places near the house. Many of the locations listed are places we know like KFC or Jack in the Box, but there are a few that stand out like The Splashdown, a Bahaman-Soul Food style restaurant/bar.

LEXY [Off-Panel]: 25 different locations matching your hunger found within 15 miles of the present location. If you want to contact any of these locations, activate the "FOOD! FOOD!" FOOD!" app and say... AMANDA [interjecting, Off-Panel left]: Oh boy...

PANEL 5: We move to a shot of Amanda standing in the doorway leading to the living room a second later; her eyes shooting over in Adam's direction, looking for the full story behind what just happened.

AMANDA [Cont.]: Should've told you about Lexy's hunger sensor. It clicks on whenever she detects a noticeable dip in nutrients of whoever's in the room. AMANDA [Bubble 2, responding to Panel 6 Bubble 1]: Actually, Apple was the one behind it. Though Facebook had a bit of a role after they bought a share in GrubHub, I believe...5-10 years ago.

PANEL 6: Back to a now clearly shocked Adam, looking back at his sister. The setting and layout of the panel's scene is the same to what we saw back in Panel 3, along with the same background.

ADAM: Hunger sensor?! That is both fascinating...and extremely creepy. Sounds like something that Amazon or Facebook would've come up with. ADAM [Bubble 2, responding to Panel 5 Bubble 2]: Huh. Weirdly nice to know Facebook is still as nebulously evil as they were in 2018.
