Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 4: Pages 1-2
PAGE 1
INT. BASEMENT, BOTANICAL GARDEN BOOKSTORE
PANEL 1: Cut to an action shot of Adam and Brit, moments after we last left the two of them in Chapter 3, descending a staircase that leads to the main room of the basement. You can see one of the lights automatically turn on in front of the pair, following the couple of ones on the ceiling that are already on here.
ADAM [narration caption]: "'I was initially against using the basement of the store for your junk,' Brit told me as we went down the stairs. 'Mostly just worried about a lotta nosy subordinates and co-workers getting in and asking questions, thinking I mighta killed you or something...'"
PANEL 2: We move to a ground level shot showing the two of them finishing off the last few steps before heading to the basement floor. You can see Brit explaining to the young man standing to the right of the panel view without words.
ADAM [Cont., narration caption]: "'Luckily, when automated mechas became popular, we were able to get the stuff in after closing and just program the ones on my staff to keep out of the basement.' She added. From there, it got a little hazy in terms of what she said."
PANEL 3: Close-up on Mr. de Connick's face a few moments later when he catches sight of something that starts to come into view at one corner of the room. You can see his eyes grow wide and the excitement of the moment on his face.
ADAM [narration caption]: "Not because what she said was boring or anything, but...I saw something that gave me the blind happys."
PANEL 4: We move to a shot of the image that the young man is seeing all this time. Stacked atop a large row of boxes in front of a wall, you can see a stuffed Lockjaw doll seated alongside an equally sized red haired stuffed kitten in a Captain America uniform.
ADAM [Off-Panel, speaking out loud]: Lockjaw! KEGGY!
PANEL 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A few moments later, we see Adam giving a large bear hug to both of the stuffed animals with the same beaming love one would give to a reunited family member.
BRIT [Off-Panel]: Keggy? ADAM [explanatory, to Brit]: Kitten Peggy. You may not understand it, but...these are my sleep buddies. I always slept well with them near me...
PAGE 2
PANEL 1: We move back to Brit in the same setting and layout as the second-to-last panel of the previous page. She raises a single eyebrow skyward, followed by a sly smirk that connects to the words coming out of her mouth.
BRIT [sly, to Adam]: I'm guessing you weren't that "popular" with the ladies as a kid, were you?
PANEL 2: Cut to Adam, turned 180 degrees to face the familial-like friend head-on; both stuffed animals wrapped in his arms as he speaks with a nonplussed look on his face. You can see the stack of boxes of his belongings and clothes behind him, as was the case at the end of Page 1.
ADAM [chuckles, to Brit]: Somewhat popular, but...mostly unlucky.
PANEL 3: Back to Brit in the same setting and layout as Panel 1. She starts to take her first long stride toward the pile to help start moving the boxes along. You can see a touch of curiosity on her face from the earlier statement as she speaks.
BRIT: Unlucky how?
PANEL 4-5: A two-part set of panels that goes initially back to Adam in the same setting and layout as Panel 2. For the first time, he starts to let go of Lockjaw and Keggy, placing both of them firmly gripped in each hand. In Panel 5, it moves to a side shot to take in Brit who walks into view ready to help out.
ADAM [Panel 4]: You remember one of those bungee blow-up things, where you'd get strapped to a bungee and run for a time before the cord snaps you back to the wall? Well...that's my love life. Add that with my Asexuality and my Autism and it gets-- ADAM [curious, directed at Brit; Panel 5]: Hold on, isn't there some type of high tech gadget that helps with the hauling? BRIT [knowing, Panel 5]: Yeah, there is an automated dolly I use for big shipments that can work out well here. But we have to get your stuff in range first. ADAM [Panel 5, Bubble 2]: A Wi-Fi Dolly...adorable, and kinda redundant! BRIT [Panel 5, Bubble 2]: I know, right? But it's great for those of us with crap backs...
