Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 4: Pages 15-16

PAGE 15

INT. FRONT LOBBY, BAYCHRON- A Minute Later

PANEL 1: We move to an interior shot of Mr. de Connick stepping into the front lobby of the newspaper's offices. He silently looks around at the area, taking in how much has changed since he was last in there.

ADAM [Cont., thought bubble]: This looks more like a PR firm than a newspaper. Or maybe a soulless financial firm. Either way, given where the business was going, it's depressingly on--

PANEL 2: His forward progress is stopped momentarily by the sudden appearance of CD-23, aka the "Greeter Bot." It has a similar physical shield compared to the CD-70 we saw back in Chapter 2, but with two egg-shaped eyes and a color scheme similar to what we saw in the logo at the end of the previous page.

CD-23: [interjecting, to Adam]: Hello, and welcome to BayChron. I'm CD-23, the building's "Greeter."...How can I help you?

PANEL 3-4: A two-part set of panels that moves to a close-up of Adam's face, standing just a few steps in front of the droid. In Panel 3, he glances down with a sigh at the robot before answering the question in Panel 4; his eyes gazing back up in front of him as he speaks.

ADAM [thought bubble, Panel 3]: Ah fun, more of these creepy sounding robots...! ADAM [to CD-23, Panel 4]: Can you tell me where the Bullpen is?

PANEL 5: Cut to the same type of frontal shot of CD-23 a few beats later; the layout behind the robot is similar to what we saw in Panel 2 with its eyes changing to a slightly lighter shade of red upon hearing the command.

CD-23: I am unfamiliar with this Bullpen you speak of.

PANEL 6: Back to a shot of Adam in the same setting and layout that we saw in Panel 4. The answer from the courtesy droid, whose height he beats by only a couple of inches, takes the young man aback slightly.

ADAM: But you work in a newspaper...how do you not know where--? ADAM [stopping himself and rephrasing, Bubble 2]: Okay. Where do the reporters go then? CD-23 [Off-Panel]: Oh, you must mean our Newsroom.

PAGE 16

PANEL 1: Cut to a shot of CD-23 in the same setting as Panel 5 of the previous page. The layout is widened to take in the rest of the courtesy droid which has flashed a white arrow pointing to somewhere to its left. In the background, you can see some type of large desk in the distance from where the scene is taking place.

CD-23 [Cont., to Adam]: 5th floor, end of the hallway.

PANEL 2-3: A two-part set of panels that moves back to a shot of Adam in a similar setting as the last panel of the previous page. In Panel 2, he nods and looks over in the direction where it pointed in the previous panel. Then in Panel 3, the young man starts to make his way to the elevators moments after the courtesy droid rolls completely out of the scene.

ADAM [grateful and on a halting/quickened pace, to CD-23; Panel 2]: Cool. Th--Thanks... CD-23 [Off-Panel, Panel 2]: Thank you. Is there anything else you want to know, sir? ADAM [Panel 2, Bubble 2]: No, that--that's about it. ADAM [thought bubble, Panel 3]: Do all robots in the future look alike?

INT. NEWSROOM, BAYCHRON- Minutes Later

PANEL 4: Cut to a shot of Mr. de Connick stepping through the opened elevator door minutes later. On the walls of the hallway that he's walking onto, you can see a few framed photos of past headlines that the BayChron was involved in such as "Khan You Believe It?" and "Winter Storm Trump Death Toll Reaches 5,000 in NY."

ADAM [caption]: I should look into that, once things get more calm life wise... ADAM [thought bubble]: Wait, did that headline say "Winter Storm Trump?"

PANEL 5: We move to a side shot of Adam running smack dab into some type of energy barrier that stops him in his tracks after ten feet. You can see a light blue crackle from the shield, similar to the protective energy wall that was seen earlier in the story.

SOUND EFFECT [from Adam]: KRATHUMP!
