Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 5: Pages 5-6
PAGE 5
PANEL 1-2: A two-part set of panels that moves back to Adam in the same setting and layout as Panel 3 of the previous page. In Panel 1, he turns his head in the direction of the console for a brief moment of thought. A second later, in Panel 2, the real meaning pops into his head and the confusion immediately dies off. Off-panel right in this panel, as this goes on, you can hear the sound of Amanda's door shutting as she leaves the car.
ADAM [to himself, Panel 1]: "House of Humong--"? ADAM [realizing, Panel 2]: Ah! I get it...not that creative, but... AMANDA [Off-Panel, to Adam; Panel 2]: We're talking "Loud Sports Fans" here, bro. Creative isn't part of the job description!
EXT. HERMES CAR
PANEL 3: Cut to a shot of the young man stepping out of the car a few moments after the end of the previous panel, carrying a manila envelope in his right hand which is at his side. He looks over in Amanda's direction who stands not that far away from him at this point off-panel.
ADAM [Cont., to Amanda]: So after I'm done at this Nerdvana place, do I just go next door to the other building and wait for you? I--I don't want to be jerky and linger on too long.
PANEL 4: We move to a shot of Amanda standing six feet away from him at this point, looking over as her brother moves to her direction. You can see part of her building behind her in the background as she speaks.
AMANDA [casually, to Adam]: You can come by, if you don't want to wait for a Hermie home or check out the Etsy shop. One of my co-workers actually believes you became a zombie, and just haven't found your way back home. I'd love the chance to prove you're still alive.
PANEL 5: Cut to a clearly confused and partially terrified Adam a moment later as he steps off the street and onto the main sidewalk; the casualness of the remark being the chief spark for his confusion. You can see the same setting with a slightly changed layout compared to Panel 3.
ADAM: Z--Zombies are a...thing...in the future?
PANEL 6: Back to Amanda in the same setting and layout as Panel 4. The body language that she displays shows off a mix of agreement, but with a degree of hemming and hawing in regards to the context hidden underneath.
AMANDA: Yes and no. They don't eat brains or have rotting skin, and they can speak well--well-ish, anyway...
PAGE 6
PANEL 1: Cut to a profile shot of the "zombie" that Amanda is talking about behind a light blue background- a skinny, fairly humanoid-like creature with ratty looking gray-dark hair and vacant blue eyes; a friendly looking, and slightly creepy, smile on their face. They're wearing a weathered T-Shirt that reads "Vaccines are a Deep State plot to make Autistic Atheist Super Babies!" and a pair of jeans stuffed with things inside it.
AMANDA [Cont., Off-Panel]: But the personality, the spirit--all slow and lacking! ZOMBIE [gravely]: Uhhnnnhh....fahhkk NEWS!! AMANDA [Off-Panel caption 2]: They also have their own Congressional Caucus, primarily men...
PANEL 2: Back to Amanda in the same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. You can see a wider smile come over her face as her brother nears her position; his presence signified in a shadow that is a little more prominent as he moves closer.
AMANDA [suggesting playfully, to Adam]: Anyway, back to the co-worker I mentioned. He's also a massive prankster, if you wanna try to screw with his head.
PANEL 3: Slight close-up on her young brother's face a second later, immediately shaking his head at the suggestion; a look of instant anxiety visible in his scrunched facial movements that pop up as he speaks.
ADAM [quickly, to Amanda]: No thanks. Still not a pranking fan. AMANDA [Off-Panel]: Fair enough...
PANEL 4: Cut to a side shot of the siblings standing in front of each other on the sidewalk, hugging one another. You can see a handful of people moving right to left, and left to right behind them in the background.
PANEL 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A few moments later, both Amanda and Adam let go of their hug; their minds shifting to the big meat of their respective days. As for the background crowd that was visible in Panel 4, the number has diminished slightly with some moving out of view completely.
AMANDA: Good luck, bro...see you tonight. ADAM: Thanks...see you tonight!
