INT. HERMES CAR- Thirty Minutes Later
PANEL 1: We move to a shot later on in the night of the front of a Hermes car just as it lands on the road next to the park (which is partially seen to the left of the panel view). You can also see, in that same area of the panel, the glow of lights from the performance area come into view.
MICHELE [from inside, above the left side of the car]: An explosion in the kitchen...did not anticipate that happening.
PANEL 2: Cut to a shot of the two ladies stepping out of the car moments later. Jenny is the first one out, holding her purse with her left hand; her eyes glancing out toward the entrance to the concert. You can see, over Jenny's shoulder, Michele's face looking over as she chimes in with the rest of her thought.
MICHELE [Cont., to Jenny]: On the plus side, traffic's not a pit of bloody hellfire. Also, the Dapardi B's always come out late...it's part of their allure! JENNY [glancing behind her, to Michele]: This your way of trying to cheer me up? MICHELE [Bubble 2]: Emphasis on the trying...is it working?
PANEL 3: We move to a side shot of the two of them walking on to the sidewalk in the direction of the front gate; the car heading back out of view to the right of the panel view at the same moment. For the first time, we see Michele carrying a reusable box containing the leftover Ice Cream Nachos along with two cups of plastic wine atop it as she speaks.
MICHELE [Cont.]: I could whip out my Donald Grover impersonation, if you need an extra boost.
PANEL 4: Slight close-up on Ms. McKinney's face a few seconds later. She grabs one of the cups with her left hand, lifting it up from the box to show off to her friend. You can see the road and the front of a store of some kind, along with a few cars passing by, in the background behind her head.
MICHELE [Cont., confidently]: Or we can break out these 24-hour Wine Cups from Whole Foods and get a head start. JENNY [Off-Panel]: It's cool- we're almost there anyway.
EXT. CONCERT AREA
PANEL 5: Cut to a shot of a packed crowd from the perspective of the two ladies, looking out from some part of the open concert area; the starry yet smoky moonlit sky above. You can see the band still playing the end of a nondescript song, and the crowd bouncing and dancing around on their feet.
JENNY [caption]: Let's just put it out of mind and party.
PANEL 6-7: A two-part set of panels that cuts to a shot of the two of them standing in a relatively empty part of the performance space minutes later, standing in front of a booth selling something from Coors called "Bubble Booze" to a few concertgoers; each one holding a separate Wine Cup, while Michele is still holding the Nacho box. In Panel 6, the two of them openly think aloud what to do next. In the next panel, a few minutes later, Michele heads off toward an area that catches her eye.
JENNY [thinking out loud, Panel 6]: Unless we shell out for one of those Hover Carpets, this is probably the best we're gonna be able to do. MICHELE [has an idea, Panel 6]: Actually, my dear... MICHELE [Cont., Panel 7]: I think I have an idea for a better spot.
PAGE 22
PANEL 1: Cut to a shot five minutes later of a young woman seated near the front of the stage with a bottle of booze and the scraps of some concession food, watching the techies begin to set the stage up for the Dapardi B's to come. She's dressed in a sun dress that shows Berthe Moirsot's "Dahlias" painting as if it were actually taken live from somewhere. You can see Michele in the background, moving through the crowd toward the woman's open area while the other people in the audience talk with one another.
MICHELE [calling to the young woman]: Excuse me...!
PANEL 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The woman glances over to her right as Ms. McKinney officially steps through the crowd, standing a handful of steps away from her. As was the case in the previous panel, you can see faintly Jenny looking on in the distance, curious to see what she's going to do.
MICHELE [Cont.]: I'm looking for someone who ordered a SparkGram at the end of the Dapardi B's set. I can't remember the name. I know it started with a D-- WOMAN [interjecting, to Michele]: Dennis? He just went to the bathroom. He'll be back in a bit...
PANEL 3: Cut to a slight close-up of the woman's face a second later, showing a heightened spark of love and excitement in her eyes at the announcement. In the background, you can see the food wrappers and beer cups as well as the grass she's sitting on.
WOMAN [Cont.]: Between us girls though--can you tell me what the SparkGram's gonna say?
PANEL 4-5: A two-part set of panels that moves to a similarly focused close-up on Michele. In Panel 4, she looks up, painting a ponderous look on her face as she speaks. In the next panel, a scream pierces in from off-panel, stopping the rest of her thought at that point.
MICHELE [Panel 4]: Umm...I can't remember precisely, but I think it said- "Happy Anniversary, Rebecca. Love, Your Doopsy Bear..." WOMAN [angry Off-Panel, Panel 5]: AHHHH! That vile, soon to be dickless piece of shit!
PANEL 6: Cut to a shot of the back of the concert area of Jenny; her back shown to the reader. She's watching as the young woman storms out of the area, through the crowd, off-panel left. You can see Michele looking back in her BFF/lover's direction, giving an excited thumbs up at the plan in its success. On-stage, meanwhile, the band is seen starting to play a song as three brown women approach the stage, wearing Bluetooth microphone headsets.
JENNY [thought bubble]: She's a keeper...absolutely, a keeper! LEAD SINGER [to the crowd]: What's up, San Fran?!
