Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 6: Pages 3-4

PAGE 3

PANEL 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page, taken a couple of moments later. We see the all-gray colored ensemble that was on display at the end of Page 2 change suddenly to a pitch perfect cosplay of the Ninth Doctor. He glances down at the jacket and the jeans that had suddenly manifested with a mixture of respect and longing regarding what was before.

ADAM: Impressive...if only it could replicate the Sonic. Still bugs me my old one broke underneath my old Blu-Ray play--

PANEL 2: We move to a slight close-up of Mr. de Connick's face a second later, seemingly having a bright "Brain Flash!" type of moment at that point in time. You can see a little bit of a smile come over the left part of his face as he speaks.

ADAM [Cont.]: Duh! Maybe someone in this "Swag Market" are selling real-life functioning Sonic Screwdrivers.

PANEL 3: In a little box in the top right corner of Panel 2, we see a visual representation of the Sonic Adam's talking about in the previous panel. It looks like a metal and plastic version of the Tenth Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver, but with a variety of different electronic bells and whistles operating near its handle.

ADAM [Off-Panel caption]: "I mean, if Iron Man suits are a thing now, why not Sonics that can scan something and help me get me anywhere I wanna go (unless the entrance's made of wood)?"

PANEL 4: Same setting/layout as Panel 2, taken a handful of minutes later. He glances over in the direction of the left back window, looking out at something that the car happens to be passing by at that point in time.

HERMES [Off-Panel, to Adam]: We are now 7 minutes and 44 seconds away from Google Arena. ADAM [to Hermes, appreciative/curious]: Thanks...what's the best R&B or--Rock station on the radio today, if radio stations are still a thing? HERMES [Off-Panel, Bubble 2]: Searching...

PANEL 5-6: A two-part set of panels that shows our two protagonists sitting down in similar modes of public transportation, but in different parts of town/timeframes. In Panel 5, it's Adam enjoying the sound of Sam Cooke playing through the speakers of the car as it continues on to its destination. In Panel 6, we see Michele sitting on one of the seats in what appears to be a bus of some kind, listening to the same song coming from its ceiling speakers. She's dressed in a Grunge Wonder Woman cosplay; band patches strategically placed on her shield as well as her armored torso.

INT. BUS- Morning

PANEL 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. She glances up at a TV screen (on mute) that is positioned from a bar on the roof of the bus, listening as Lil' Jarvis rattles on the day's work; the music playing as before. In the background, you can see the tops of the heads of a few people seated in the row immediately behind Ms. McKinney.

MICHELE [curious, to Lil' Jarvis]: Now, the itinerary for today- Tomb Raider and the evolution of the "Strong Female Character" panel, the Community reunion, G. Willow Wilson and Kelly Thompson autograph signing, and...glance for any back issues for the 12th and 13th Doctor Who in the Swag Market. Right? LIL' JARVIS [correcting from the wrist, to Michele]: Close, except it's Steve Orlando doing the autographs with Ms. Wilson, not Ms. Thompson. MICHELE [Bubble 2]: Oh, right! Ms. Thompson's coming tomorrow. Still getting my head straightened back after the date with Jenny-- LIL' JARVIS [interjecting, Bubble 2]: Phone call from a Ms. Russell Arnold- Dining Area, Alphabet Arms.

PANEL 2-3: A two-part set of panels that starts out in the same setting and layout as the previous panel. She flashes a slightly confused look in Panel 2, lifting the wrist communicator on her metal prosthetic up closer to the base of her chin to talk. In Panel 3, moments later, a 3-D screen emerges from the wrist, showing the back of someone's head to the reader.

MICHELE [looking for clarification, Panel 2]: Never heard of her. A fan of the stream? LIL' JARVIS [unsure, Panel 2]: Maybe. But judging from her image, she might be a fan of the deep pocketed variety. I understand if you wanna put her to voice mail and deal with it once you're back in the AA. MICHELE [shrugs; Panel 2, Bubble 2]: Eh, answer it.I got the time. Besides, I rarely get to deal with female money bags in this town. MICHELE [Cont., Panel 3]: Hello? RUSS ARNOLD [to Michele, Panel 3]: Is this Michele McKinney? MICHELE [nods; Panel 3, Bubble 2]: Speaking... RUSS ARNOLD [Panel 3, Bubble 2]: Hello, the name's Russ Arnold.

INT. DINING ROOM AREA, ALPHABET ARMS

PANEL 4: Cut to a shot of Ms. Arnold, a woman in her late 30s with a well-kept crop of dark hair, seated at one of the tables in Alphabet Arms' dining room eating breakfast. It's filled to the brim with tourists conversing and chatting with one another. She's wearing a buttoned up dress shirt that isn't entirely buttoned up at this point. As was the case with her in the previous panel, we see the back of Michele's head in the here and now.

MICHELE [to Russ, curious]: Hi Russ. RUSS ARNOLD [chuckles, to Michele]: Actually, I was named after Brenda Russell- my mom's idea. My mom played a lot of her songs when she was in labor, and..."This Time I Need You" was playing on the CD player when I was conceived. MICHELE [Bubble 2]: Weird...yet somehow sweet too. I'm guessing high school was still a pain in the arse, especially during the Idiotweens. RUSS ARNOLD [Bubble 2]: Indeed it was. But it grew on me. Also, I love the look on some Valley dudebro when they realize I'm a woman. MICHELE [Bubble 3]: I can imagine. So...what do I owe the pleasure of this little chat, Ms. Arnold? RUSS ARNOLD [Bubble 3]: Outside of a nice string of I own an eSports franchise in Las Vegas. You may have heard of them, the Triple 7's? We specialize in a few different games- Fortnite, Splat!, Rocket Soccer--

INT. BUS- Morning

PANEL 5: Back to Michele on the bus, listening in on the conversation; the setting and layout of the panel similar to what we saw in Panel 3. She chuckles and nods in the middle of his statement, putting the pieces of the puzzle together. As she speaks, her eyes are still focused on the off-panel TV screen.

MICHELE [interjecting, in a bit of remembrance]: Oh yeah, the Triple 7's! I saw you guys play an FIFA '36 Invitational in Manchester a couple of years back- pretty impressive for an American side. RUSS ARNOLD [appreciative]: Thank you...I'm a fan of your Twitch channel. I was hoping to get in touch last night at the kickoff dinner, but apparently you were arrested before I arrived. MICHELE [chuckles, Bubble 2]: Yeah. That was a fun time. So what, are you looking to scout a walk-on for one of the games? RUSS ARNOLD [shakes his head, Bubble 2]: No, no. It has to do with your commentary actually.

INT. DINING ROOM AREA, ALPHABET ARMS

PANEL 6: We move back to Russ in the same setting and layout as Panel 4, a few moments later. He has a forkful of the Denver omelette that he stuffed in his mouth at the tail end of his last line from the previous panel.

RUSS ARNOLD [Cont.]: We have an opening in the booth doing Fortnite matches in the Fall. And given your adept skill and knowledge of the game's inner workings...I'd love to offer you a chance to try out for our broadcasting team. MICHELE [from his 3-D display]: ...Really? RUSS ARNOLD [Bubble 2]: Absolutely! From what the team and I have seen on the channel, I don't imagine it'll be more than a formality.
