Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 6: Pages 7-8

PAGE 7

EXT. FRONT GATE, GOOGLE ARENA

PANEL 1: We move to a shot of Adam a short time later joining the long line of people set to come in for Day 1 of the Con. He looks up at the roof of the building with a bright and excited smile plastered on his face. You can see in the background a section of the partly cloudy sunny sky as well as parts of the parking lot.

MICHELE [Cont., caption]: There's still a lot of shit to claw through that slipped through the cracks.

PANEL 2-3: A two-part set of panels that slightly changes the perspective of the same setting as it moves to the front. In Panel 1, we see a white guy dressed as a Stormtrooper turn around, noticing Mr. de Connick's costume. In Panel 3, a few beats later, he chimes in with the first thought that popped in his head.

FAN [to Adam, Panel 3]: Alternate universe...? ADAM [confused, to the Fan; Panel 3]: What?

PANEL 4: Cut to a slight close-up on the fan moments later; the helmet now off his head, and placed underneath his right head. He points over to one part of Adam's costume as he refers to the grander part of the cosplay.

FAN [elaborating]: Your outfit. Is it inspired by that Spanish AU fanfic, "La Tormenta Que Se Aproxima?"

PANEL 5: We move back to Adam in a similarly framed close-up. He shakes his head at the question, moving silently another few steps toward the front of the line. Behind him in the background is a section of blue in the sky above.

ADAM [correcting, not really understanding the base of the question]: No, it's the--my Doctor. The Ninth Doctor from the regular Whoniverse.

PANEL 6: Back to the Fan in the same setting/layout as Panel 4, moving a little more up the line at the same time that Adam's moving. in the same direction. He has a look of surprise at the young man's statement, trying to wrap his head around it.

FAN: Oh, cool. I--I didn't know "Doctor Who" was that popular with people like you.

PANEL 7: Cut to a shot of Adam in the same setting and layout as Panel 5, in a frozen moment of movement at this point in time. You can see a steady glow of orange flames over the top of his head like you'd find on a really bright candle.

FAN [Cont., Off-Panel]: Learn something new every day...!

INT. GOOGLE ARENA- Minutes Later

PANEL 1: We move to a similarly framed shot of the young man a short time later, walking the hallway; his eyes looking up at an assortment of banners and posters hung up in that area at that point in time. You can see the flames that were prevalent over his head at the end of the previous page settle down and disappear given the positive stimuli in front of him.

ADAM: [audible deep breath, and pleased sigh; smile] The sweet musk of sweat, A/C, and vendor food...

PANEL 2: Cut to a rear full-body action shot of Mr. de Connick moving past a sign that points toward one of the rooms where some of the Con's panels are taking place. Alongside him is a 10-year-old version of the young man in spirit form, walking the same way with the same wondrous look on his face that we saw from adult Adam in the previous panel. Amidst the scene is a little piece of the thousands of people attending the Con with him, cosplaying as different characters from America Chavez to Thor (Jane Foster Thor and Thor Odinson) to General Leia to Ron Swanson to Captain America and Captain Marvel.

ADAM [thought bubble]: Never gets old!

PANEL 3-4: A two-part set of panels that moves back to Adam in the same setting as Panel 1; the layout widening slightly to take in a little more of his body, including the events schedule that he reads from in Panel 3 as he walks. In Panel 4, a few moments later, he looks up at the sound of a loud "FWOOSH!" emanating from the ceilings.

ADAM [to himself, Panel 3]: I do wish a panel called "Sexual Harrassment in Comics: Has it Really Gotten Better?" would have been old by now. Or dead at least. On the plus side, there's the Community reunion (with Danny Pudi!!), even though it's not till tonight. Still, should leave me enough time to check out some art and backpage comic books (if they still exist). Maybe enough time (one hopes) to check out this DC/Marvel movie Fan Debate-- ADAM [startled, Panel 4]: WHOA!

PANEL 5: Cut to a ceiling shot of an Iron Man designed courtesy droid flying in the air and beginning its descent to the ground (signified in a series of three snapshots as it moves from a flying position to a landing position on its feet); a dark brown colored metal goatee in place on its face plate. You can see part of one of the posters behind the robot in the background promoting the 10th anniversary of "Ms. Marvel: The TV Series" on 4K and CAT compatible TVs.

PANEL 6: We move back to a ground level shot of the droid seconds later, landing with the same power and speed of someone hopping off the top of a trailer. You can see on the left lapel of the gold and brown colored robot the GGCC logo set behind a black background; the back of Adam also visible to the right of the panel view.

STARKY-2 [to Adam]: Hello, Cosplaying Heroes and Villains--welcome to Golden Gate Comic Con! And if you're just a proud out geeky weirdo here to sell/buy some sweet merch and comics--welcome to you too!
