Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 6: Pages 13-14

PAGE 13

PANEL 1: Cut back to Michele in the same setting and layout as Panel 4 of the previous page, along with the same background. We see the young woman take in the rest of the comment with as much grace as possible.

OWNER [Cont. Off-Panel, to Michele]: I can put ya on the E-Mail list, if you want...drop a line when something from that point in the series shows up on my end. MICHELE [grateful, to the Owner]: That'd be brilliant! Thanks...

PANEL 2-3: A two-part set of panels a minute later, after the E-Mail exchange, following her moving the focus in Panel 2 to another box of comics, searching for another set of heroes for her collection. In Panel 3, just as she pulls out a copy of New 52 era Wonder Woman and remarks about it, a couple of successive notification dings pop up from her wrist comm.

MICHELE [intrigued, to herself; Panel 2]: Ooo, New 52 Wonder Woman! I didn't know they were still out in circulation...really rare. MICHELE [Cont. thought bubble, Panel 3]: My first wet dreams involved Eris and Steve Trevor, which probably says a lot about my tastes in partners. LIL' JARVIS [to Michele, from the comm; Panel 3]: Two things, Ms. M. First- the Tomb Raider panel is getting ready to start in 10 minutes. And the second- you have a new Match on ConBae.

PANEL 4: Cut to a slight close-up on Ms. McKinney's face a few moments later, looking up and toward the right of the panel view in a pondering manner. You can see part of a few booths behind her head in the background of the left side of the panel view.

MICHELE [puzzled]: ConBae...? MICHELE [Bubble 2]: Oh right! I completely forgot I still had an account on that bett'n thing...

PANEL 5: In a kind of visual thought bubble, we see the ConBae logo on display in the top right corner of Panel 4; its slogan scribbled underneath the bright rainbow colored logo- "Live Long and Get It On!"

PANEL 6: Same setting/layout as Panel 4; the visual thought bubble of the previous panel also gone at this point. She tilts her head down toward her comm, which rises up in the bottom of the panel view along with a section of her arm.

MICHELE [sighs, to Lil' Jarvis]: Tell me this match is cute, or at least not one of those misogynistic gatekeeper nerds who think culture was better during the IdioTweens. LIL' JARVIS [trying to find the bright side]: Well...he's definitely not a Misogynist.

PANEL 1: We move to a shot a few moments later, showing the profile pic of the person in question- an average looking guy wearing a pair of spectacles and a Team Canada eBilliards jersey. She looks on and reads the profile with a burning apathy that is visible in her face as she speaks.

MICHELE: Ugh! Any man who lists "Don Draper" as someone he idolizes is not someone I want inside me, or anywhere near me- Hard Pass!

PANEL 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel, just a few seconds later. We see Michele swiping left on the picture as she walks. You can see a blue blur up in the top of the panel view as someone in an Iron Man armor flies around in a gloating pattern.

MICHELE [Cont.]: Now let's get the hell over to the hall before the good seats are gone!

PANEL 3: Cut to a shot of Ms. McKinney standing in the doorway leading to the aforementioned panel. She looks on with a little bit of excitement, albeit with some disappointment over the attendance; the sound of commotion and chatter emanating from inside, albeit at a lower decibel level.

LIL' JARVIS [encouragingly, to Michele]: The good seats are open...

PANEL 4: Cut to a panoramic shot of the hall itself, which is a little over half full right now. There are a mix of people who are either in costume or regular civilian wear. You can see the long table and the row of chairs pieced together; the moderator and some of the individual speakers, some of which are talking with each other before things begin.

LIL' JARVIS [Cont., caption]: Along with most of the other ones. MICHELE [Off-Panel]: Shouldn't be surprised, I guess.

PANEL 5: Action shot of the young woman a few moments later, crossing toward the back row of chairs that are visible in the bottom of the panel view. You can see a few people coming in behind her at the same time, as well as other people who came inside earlier (one of which is coyly checking out Michele's butt as she speaks).

MICHELE: Brainy panels are rarely big draws. Still, woulda been nice if who came...

PANEL 6: Slight close-up on Ms. McKinney's face a moment later, glancing in the direction of the leering guy whom she notices for the first time. There's a look of barely controlled disgust that is on her face as she speaks.

MICHELE [Cont.]: ...didn't make my skin crawl, or punching fist ready to punch! LIL' JARVIS [from the comm, to Michele]: "Punching fist?" Is that the metaphor you really want to stand behind? MICHELE [Bubble 2]: I--I'm saving my best creative jelly for the audition. Besides...you got the point of it in general. LIL' JARVIS [Bubble 2]: Right...
