Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 6: Pages 17-18

PAGE 17

PANEL 1: Action shot of Mr. de Connick a few moments later, walking through the opened double doors; a mixture of men and women entering behind him, heading inside at the same moment. You can hear the sound of chatter and commotion off-panel, underneath the base sound of a story being recited.

WOMAN [Off-Panel]: "It had been almost 20 years since she last saw Peggy. Angie kept from bawling her eyes out then, watching someone she'd just gotten to call a dear friend leave her life for good. Now, she could feel the rush of tears as she ran toward her and hugged her tightly. Among the feelings of nostalgia and excitement she recognized and thought was normal for the moment, there was another feeling that maybe wasn't 'normal,' but weirdly felt right too."

PANEL 2: We cut to a shot of the woman, REBECCA CUNNINGHAM, dramatically reciting the short story from a tablet she's gripping in her right hand. Behind her is the realm of the story being dramatized out in the open, seemingly drawn on oil painting, showing the two women at the core of the store- Peggy Carter and Angie Martin.

REBECCA [Cont.]: "A rush of tingly pheromones coming over every inch of her body. Something that she felt whenever she got romantic feelings for men (or whatever her ex-husband Reggie was) which she hadn't felt since she was a teenager. The fact that it was happening now was exhilirating, but also gave Angie a twinge of anxiety."

PANEL 3-4: A two-part set of panels that moves to a stylized recreation of the two women; Angie's eyes looking lovingly in Panel 3 toward the woman she secretly loves Peggy. In Panel 4, we see the two of them break the hug apart moments later; the middle-aged woman smiles and starts to turn her body toward the dining area seemingly behind her. As Rebecca speaks, you can see Ms. Martin's mouth open up to mimic the dialogue on the screen.

REBECCA [caption, Panel 3]: "No need to burden her with this junk, she thought to herself. It's probably just the buzz of seeing a dear friend back." REBECCA [caption, Panel 4]: "'What brings you back here?,' Angie asks. 'I thought you were some government bigshot, protecting the world from Commies and Joe Schmidt types.'"

PANEL 5: We move to a shot of Ms. Carter watching her friend walk back behind the counter, taking a few steps forward herself in the same direction. She's dressed in a smart looking red and blue colored suit that hugs her still fairly fit body; her hair showing off patches of gray amongst her usual auburn red. As was the case in the previous panel, we hear Rebecca's voice in caption while Peggy's mouth is open comic book style.

REBECCA [caption]: "'I'm here on a case involving an old enemy,' Peggy replied calmly. 'Which is as much as I can tell you without putting you through a mountain of security clearances or making you want to update your will.'" REBECCA [caption 2]: "Angie laughed, hopping gingerly over the top of the counter with as much power and grace as her legs could grant her. 'It wouldn't be you if it were anything simple or life threatening.' She fired back."

PANEL 1: Cut to a shot of Ms. Martin a few moments later, standing in front of a display of sandwiches a split second before she's about to squat down. She glances over in Peggy's direction, immediately going into waitress mode.

REBECCA [caption]: "'So...' she added, glancing toward Ms. Carter's direction. 'I have a Tuna fish and a Coke, if you have some time...wanna catch up on non-work related stuff before you get back to the world saving stuff? If you can spare it.'"

PANEL 2-3: A two-part set of panels that cuts back to Peggy over the course of a few moments. In Panel 2, she's standing in front of a row of stools that are lined up from left to right in front of the counter. Then, in Panel 3, the middle-aged woman is seen taking a seat on one of the stools as she speaks.

REBECCA [caption, Panel 2]: "Peggy thought briefly about Doctor Faustus and his latest movements in Brooklyn and Hell's Kitchen. How important it is to keep him from instigating a race war at the rally. But then she thought about her friend, someone who helped navigate her through Steve's passing and the answer came easily to her..."

REBECCA [caption, Panel 3]: "For you Angie, I always have time to spare."

PANEL 4-5: A two-part set of panels that changes setting to a section of the hall. Particularly, Adam watching the tale take place with a young woman next to him, wearing a Marvel30 T-Shirt; the story continuing apace in Panel 4 before the woman glances over to Mr. de Connick to remark about the story.

REBECCA [Off-Panel, Panel 4]: "'Also, I could use something stronger than a Coke.' Peggy added. 'Especially after...'" WOMAN [to Adam, Panel 5]: Amazing to see how the artform's evolved the past 20 years, hasn't it?

PANEL 6: We move to a slight close-up of Adam's face, tilted slightly toward the woman after her remark. There's a look of slight confusion in regards to the statement that comes out in his response.

ADAM [seeking clarification, to Woman]: That's twenty years old? Wow! I thought that story was part of the competition. WOMAN [Off-Panel]: HA! Actually, it won back in 2018.
