Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 7: Pages 5-6
PAGE 5
PANEL 1: Cut to a shot of the schedule from the meat of Adam's pamphlet from back in Chapter 2. You can see different parts of the three day schedule highlighted, something that he had done before; the off-panel background showing the steady hum of the Hermes that he's on at that moment.
ADAM [Cont., thought bubble]: Get my hands on the real life Sonic Screwdriver I was jonesing for yesterday, get Kelly Thompson's autograph this afternoon (without losing my mind in pure joy) and then the really cool anniversary panel tonight with Edgar Wright and the cast of Fantastic Four. Oooo, this is gonna be an awesome day!
INT. HERMES- Next Mid-Morning
PANEL 2-3: A two-part set of panels that moves to a shot of the young man himself a few beats later, dressed in a gender flipped Mikasa outfit complete with a sword holstered to his side. He looks up in Panel 2 with a degree of excitement in his face over what's to come. Then, in Panel 3, the car comes to a sudden stop and he looks up at the windshield to see what happened.
ADAM [thought bubble, Panel 2]: Still makes me incredibly happy that he and Marvel were able to settle their differences here. And that he cast Latinx actors as Ben Grimm and Reed Richards. Maybe I can get his autograph too, along with a copy of the film itself...ask him if he ever made a "Spaced" reunion-- SOUND EFFECT [Off-Panel left, Panel 2]: SCREECH! ADAM [to Hermes, confused; Panel 3]: Wh--Wh--What happened?
PANEL 4: Cut to a shot of the impediment placed in front of the road at that moment- a busted construction hauler with a large chunk of the Millennium Tower placed in its cargo; the still standing buildings of that part of the downtown area visible to the sides of the panel view. You can see a long string of cars in front of the Hermes, impacted by the same traffic.
HERMES [Off-Panel speaker, to Adam]: It appears one of the sauls carrying another chunk of remnants of the Millennium Tower had a blown engine...or possibly the pilot is drunk. That has happened a lot lately.
PANEL 5: Back to a shot of Mr. de Connick's face, the setting and layout the same as Panel 3, reacting with a look of surprise at the final resting place of the famed Millennium Tower. From the back windshield, you can see the front of another flying car moving toward him.
ADAM [surprised]: The Tower fell? How did it happen? HERMES [Off-Panel]: First, it was a big earthquake that hit the city back in 2024. Then the rest of it went down a year later thanks to Google's idea to help fix it failing miserably after a sizable rain storm. ADAM [Bubble 2]: So part human stupidity, part natural disaster. HERMES [Off-Panel, Bubble 2]: Basically, yes...
PANEL 6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. He chuckles a second later, fully taking in the comedy of the moment and the backstory behind said comedy. As he speaks, you can see the seat start to take a little dip backward into a more relaxing position.
ADAM [to himself]: On the plus side, at least I can get a good nap in!
PAGE 6
PANEL 1-3: A three-part set of panels that focuses on Mr. de Connick taking a nap on the leaned back seat over a short time; the road an cars moving past along with the rush of buildings to signify the passage to the reader. In Panel 3, we see part of the arena's parking lot in the background as the car lands at its destination; Adam's eyes just beginning to open up again. Above his head, in each of the panels, you can see the first verse, refrain and hook from the Mel Brooks' song "The Inquisition" being performed in thought bubbles by tabby cats in robes.
HERMES [Off-Panel, Panel 3]: We have arrived at your destination.
PANEL 4: Close-up on Adam's face a few moments later, glancing over to a point in the front of the car after hearing the proclamation. He nods in acknowledgment to the statement, placing the seat slowly back to its original configuration as he prepares to step out.
ADAM [quasi-sleepy; to Hermes]: Thanks, homie-Hermie...
PANEL 5: Cut to a shot of the young man standing a few steps away from the car moments later; the vehicle flying off in the background to its next fare. He tilts his head up and lets out a bit of a yawn that doesn't hide the sense of anticipation of what the day will bring.
INT. GOOGLE ARENA, GGCC DAY 2
PANEL 6: At a different part of the arena, just as Adam's arrived, we see Michele (dressed as Captain America Peggy Carter) looking up at something placed on a sign immediately in front of her; the shield (the same one she had the day before, sans the patchwork designs) in her left hand. There's a look of excitement, mixed with anxiety, at what she's seeing.
LIL' JARVIS [with a warning, to Michele]: We don't really have much time to dawdle around competing in a contest, Big MAC. The schedule for today is packed, and you still need to get through the first draft of your audition script. MICHELE [nods, to Lil' Jarvis]: I know, bud. But...it's a VR Beac! The type of shininess I can bring for the channel, branch out to La Fiesta...I can't let an opp like that pass by.
