Golden Gate Comic Con, Chapter 8: Pages 13-14

PAGE 13

PANEL 1: Cut back to Adam a moment later in the same setting/layout as Panel 5 of the previous page. He turns his head back around, along with the rest of his body, to the front of the line effectively ending the conversation. You can see the backs of a handful of the other people in front of him in the background.

ADAM [confused, but takes it as a compliment; to the Cosplayer]: Thanks...?

PANEL 2-4: A three-part set of panels, over the course of a handful of minutes, that focus squarely on the young man waiting in line once more. There's a glow of excited anticipation that comes in the form of a yellowish-redish aura, growing in intensity with each panel as he moves closer to the front of the line.

PANEL 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Just as he takes another move forward though, he's felled by a cramp that hits him in the dead center of his stomach. You can see the pretty yellow-red light from Panel 4 get a little bit jolted and less harmoniously shaped all around him.

ADAM [groans]: Oh crumbs...not now!

PANEL 6-7: A two-part set of panels that centers on a close-up of Mr. de Connick's face down to the shoulders, trying his best to ride out the pain and subsequent queasiness associated with it. You can see in Panel 6, next to his thought bubble, a picture of the young man buying something from what appears to be a food truck. In Panel 7, the image disappears from view; his eyes moving up from the ground in the direction of the voice.

ADAM [thought bubble, Panel 6]: Chicken tenders with salsa-- how is it possible to screw something like that up? Just gotta hold it in for a short bit of time...don't wanna embarrass myself in front of one of my big cr-- HALEY ATWELL [Off-Panel, Panel 6]: Hello...? ADAM [thought bubble 2, Panel 6]: ....Meep! HALEY ATWELL [louder Off-Panel, Panel 7]: Hello? Sir! ADAM [nervous swoon, to Haley; Panel 7]: Uhhh....hi.

PAGE 14

PANEL 1: Cut to a shot of the 56-year-old famous actress seated at the table. She's dressed in a nice looking sports coat with a T-Shirt underneath it of a Corgi dressed as Captain America. You can see a stack of Bond-era photographs of her on the table in front of where she's seated.

HALEY ATWELL [with a concerned smile, to Adam]: Are you okay, son?

PANEL 2: Back to Adam in the same setting/layout as Panel 7 of the previous page. He nods at the question without providing any type of additional statement on top of it. Amidst the thought bubble, the scene is tinted with a mixture of pink and red that follows along the same nerdy swoony tempo of that aforementioned panel.

ADAM [thought bubble]: Okay is putting it quite mildly. I'm meeting the Peggy Carter--for the first time! And she's just as awesome and beautiful as I thought-- HALEY ATWELL [Off-Panel]: Okay...do you have something you want me to sign, or? ADAM [thought bubble 2]: Oh... ADAM [speaking, to Haley]: Oh! Yes--Yes, I do.

PANEL 3-4: A two-part set of panels that focuses on the same setting, but with a different layout taking in more of his body. In Panel 3, a split second after the previous panel, we see him frantically searching for something in his pockets that Ms. Atwell would be able to sign at that moment. He stops in Panel 4 a few moments later by the command from the actress off-panel; the rush of anxiety from the previous panel seemingly on pause at that point in time.

ADAM [verbally, Panel 3]: Right! Ummm...where where where? ADAM [thought bubble, Panel 3]: Brain leapt ahead of the rest of my body again- or is it the other way around, given the fact that my stomach is doing a hyperspeed meringue right now? Either way...beats puking or having a panic-- HALEY ATWELL [to Adam, calming him down; Panel 4]: Hey, hey! It's okay...

PANEL 5: Back to Haley once again in an action shot, sliding one of the photographs closer to her. You can see her free right hand beginning to reach over to the black felt marker that happens to be next to the photographs at that point.

HALEY ATWELL [Cont., sympathetically]: I'll just give you one of mine- I've got plenty I never use in Cons like these.

PANEL 6: Slight close-up on the just above middle-aged woman a few beats later, uncapping the top to the marker and just about ready to start writing. Before then though, she glances up in Mr. de Connick's direction for one last question beforehand.

HALEY ATWELL [curious]: Anything special you want me to put on it?
