Ghost Signals, Episode 1: Part 2.2
Raiven stops typing, looking over at her father's dead body lying still and motionless on the body; the melancholy in her eyes briefly overtaking the joy for a brief moment.
RAIVEN (Cont.) Love you, Pater... (V.O.) Let's get to work!
With her eyes reddening again, the good Doctor returns to typing on the tablet.
CUT TO:
EXT. PLOT, MUERMOSS
The assistant shakes his head in amazement at the story, standing behind the machine as we saw him last. You can see a slight smile over part of his face as he speaks.
BOLTAS That's kinda sweet...and also the kind of story the press would eat up like fresh grilled menchkier. Just in case this you do get famous thanks to all this and--
Just as he tries to finish his thought, the audio goes hazy. It's followed by a shot of the image itself, which has become distorted and lacking in basic shape in concert with the disruption in the audio.
BOLTAS (Cont., worried as he works on the console) Oh shite- I know that sound all too flarkin' well.
RAIVEN (to Boltas, unfazed) I thought you had found out how to fix that problem.
BOLTAS Keyword being "found." I only put it through a few rounds of simulation prior to a couple datums ago.
RAIVEN So this is--?
The screen suddenly flashes red in the middle of his thought, shifting his attitude from worry to a fairly strong and barely contained panic.
BOLTAS (finishing the question) The first Live run? In a nutshell, yeah!
RAIVEN No worries, Bolt. You got this. Just stay calm and trust the work. (Boltas nods)
He continues typing and going through the process that he previously put together as the red warning light continues flashing. After a few moments of this, the Jahukagonis suddenly turns off, abruptly ending the holographic simulation.
RAIVEN (angered frustration) EyeBETT'N it!!
Boltas looks first at the powerless machine, and then over in the direction of the good Doctor walk off in anger. He moves away from the console toward her position.
BOLTAS (consoling, to Raiven) My humblest, Doc. I did my level best to make it work. (optimistic tinge) There's a good plus side to all that.
RAIVEN (scoffs, turning to Boltas) What, that we actually died and this is the Tvortas?
BOLTAS (slight chuckle, shakes his head) No. I checked the ticker while you went off. Before the JK dead zoned...we clocked in at 4 minuyats 29.
Dr. O'Ozahl takes a few moments to react to the news, pumping her fist excitedly. Then the sudden thud of realization puts a bit of a damper on her initial excitement.
RAIVEN Grand. Real talk, however- You think it'll be long enough to sway the Three?
BOLTAS You're doubting the project now?
RAIVEN (shakes her head) Naw, I'm mostly nervous. I've done these things so many times- if the Three reject me here, I swear I'm gonna burn every flarking bisahgo in a 10 metro radius.
BOLTAS (chuckles, encouraging nod) You got this! You were right earlier, boss. There is something promising with the Jahukagonis. The data, the quality of the YA energy display- the pieces are there. I may not be a fan of the project, but it doesn't mean there isn't something good there.
RAIVEN (slight smile) Thanks, Bolt.
BOLTAS (slightly playful) In case it doesn't though, I will be hiding my fine arse at the B- Boom shop across the street. Figure that's far enough to cover my arse from any flamage...!
RAIVEN (brief chuckle) Oh, we got jokes now...!
The two of them chuckle simultaneously for a brief moment. Then, Boltas heads back to the machine to start the load up and heading back to the Consortium.
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. QUIET ROOM, BASEMENT, TA SCIENCE CONSORTIUM- Later
Dr. O'Ozahl walking into a sparsely lit room a short time after coming back to the Consortium; a collection of data placed together underneath her left arm, looking around for a space to study.
We follow her going down a long walkway for a time continuing this search. In the background, you can see a handful of other scientists strapped up in big white bubbles that look like VR rides with wires that lead up to the ceiling.
The consistent "PING!" from Raiven's comm stops her forward movement. She reaches with her free hand in her pocket to answer at the fourth ring, which is when we see the top half of Steggy up to his shoulders.
