Ghost Signals, Episode 1: Part 3.2
RAIVEN (Cont.) See ya in the Study...
CUT TO:
EXT. THE STUDY- Moments Later
A shot of the all-white room that comprises the Study for Raiven's particular bubble. It's empty at this point except for Steggy, who's dressed in a well-tailored suit chatting it up with a muscular Sentry standing in the corner of the room.
STEGGY (to the Sentry, curious) I've always wondered, given how cut and studly the guys in the HEM Dept. make 'em- do they just use your code for funsos back in their homes after clocking out?
As she continues his line of questioning, you can hear a banging sound from off-screen left along with the sound of footsteps coming to their position.
STEGGY (Cont.) No shame at all if they do. I mean, I know for sure more the names of a lotta Department heads around here who get their joylas off to CGAIs in the Holorooms in the K4 District.
RAIVEN (interjecting, V.O.) Would you stop bugging the Sentry, Cap?
CUT TO:
Raiven approaching the two of them a second after asking her initial question, standing right next to the motionless and stoic Sentry.
RAIVEN (Cont.) They're designed to guard against hackers and radical saboteurs. They're not for you to gossip about the varied kinks of other doctors.
STEGGY (walks away from the Sentry, to Raiven) I know. Just making small talk till ya got back.
RAIVEN Right. Anyway- let's see these maps you mentioned.
The confident A.I. walks alongside Dr. O'Ozahl for a few beats before stopping. He then reaches into his coat and pulls out a pair of gray discs from within.
STEGGY This is the map of the path from roughly three datums ago. That was the last time I patched in a Sig of yours. (flings Disc 1 out in front of him)
The white room suddenly turns black and fills up with stars and planets that comprise the known planets of the three sections of the Tristellar Alliance. The two of them walk around the edge of the massive map, following with their eyes as a red line emerges from the Capitol (based in the center of the map) out to the left in the distance.
STEGGY (Cont.) And here's the new map after I was done stitching what you gave me from this morgen. (flings Disc 2 out in the center of the map)
Over the course of seconds, the path changes its direction completely, shifting in a southwesterly direction. We follow Raiven's steadily intrigued gaze as the path leads off the map entirely.
RAIVEN (surprised, turns to Steggy) A complete course correction. I haven't seen it do that before. Now- did it cross the Borderlands? Or did it just stop there?
STEGGY I'm guessing comfortably inside, though hard to tell since my sensors went try just at the official border.
RAIVEN (starts to realize what Steggy's saying) I always theorized it was a possibility, given the creatures on it. But--
Raiven is silent for a few beats, taking in the news and the impact it'll have on her life; the stars shining and different planets (one of which being Titan) rotating all around her.
RAIVEN (Cont. growing grin, imagining the future) Alien life- past the known galaxy. Forget the shiny fame and lifetime benefits- this is gonna get me a cush seat in Parliament!
STEGGY (scoffs, disbelieving) You, as a politico? Hard to picture you suffering through that level of stupidity and corrupt assholery more than a dozen horuts without burning the bett'n place to cinder. (sly grin) I'd still pay a fortune to see it though.
RAIVEN But you don't make any ched, Cap.
STEGGY It's an expression I picked up from one of the Signal batches moons back...sounded cool to me. (Raiven shrugs, signaling she disagrees) Anyway...
As the conversation continues, the new map disappears back into the second disc which emerges in the center of the map a short time before. The disc then returns in a flash to Steggy's extended hand by his second line.
STEGGY (Cont.) As brilliant as this discovery is, there's something I think we should start planning while we can.
RAIVEN What?
STEGGY Well... (slips the disc back in the coat pocket) You remember Doc K'Son last rohtla? He cooked up that Hive Drone Delivery system.
RAIVEN (sudden remembrance) The one that'd deliver meds to the settlements and "poor areas"- yeah, I remember.
