Ghost Signals, Episode 2: Part 1.1
INT. RAIVEN'S LABORATORY, TA SCIENC CONSORTIUM- Day After the Shocla
We open on a shot of Dr. O'Ozahl in the center face down on her desk in continued frustration/sadness. In the background, to either side, is Steggy and Boltas looking on trying to console her as best as they can.
BOLTAS (to Raiven) A weatt for a stupid S&S order- that's not that bad. Gotta beat an outright denial, right?
STEGGY (retorts, to Steggy) You ever been in the Ministry of Defense, Bolt? It's like naving one of those Mull-D mazes, but with a higher likelihood of being sent into a flarkin' rage.
BOLTAS (fires back, to Boltas) Actually, I have a cozein who worked at M.o.D. before sklimming to private biz.
STEGGY And?
BOLTAS It's not as hard as you think. You can get through all that in a weatt in my view.
STEGGY You don't know the type of family shite that creeps up whenever she has to deal with the military. It's why I've been prepping ways, in case the Three go negatory, to snag a ship and continue this project of hers.
BOLTAS I hope you're also prepping for suspension and getting iced from the scientific profession? 'Cause that's precisely what'll happen, whatever you're planning. I'm set to be life bonded, and I'd rather not worry my boss is rotting in...
STEGGY (overtop Boltas, at exactly the same time after he asks the question) I'd love if it were as easy as you say it is. But I'd rather come at this with a full coterie of options for the Doc to choose from. She deserves just as much through all this...
RAIVEN (annoyed/frustrated, lifting her head off the desk; to Steggy and Boltas) Flarkme- would you two shut up!
Raiven rubs her eyes to wipe off some schmutz. She then turns her
chair around to face the two of them. You can see the bottom of her screen behind her in the background, along with a section of scientific data that is contained within.
RAIVEN (Cont., diplomatic) Cap, I love where your head's at right now and agree with ya wholeheartedly with the spirit behind it. But I think we should stick with the "acceptable route" and hope it ends well.
BOLTAS Thank you...
He then moves away off-screen toward a work station. A few moments later, Raiven turns her attention to her A.I. compadre with a look of certitude on her face as if the two of them had discussed this earlier (because they had).
RAIVEN (to Steggy) Doesn't mean we can't hypothesize a Plan B though.
STEGGY Well ahead of ya, bosso. I've already found a couple of potential candos that can do the job, though finding one with a good Z booster is proving a bit treacherous.
RAIVEN Couldn't you just buy one off the TAN, or build one DIY?
STEGGY Yeah, but I'd rather not chance having a Brownie spy catch on to our planning since, technically, we're planning a robbery.
RAIVEN Good call...! (stands up off the chair, walks a few steps left and stretches) Keep at it. Ya find something good, you know where to find me.
STEGGY Best of fortune, Doc...
RAIVEN (nod) Cheers!
CUT TO:
INT. FRONT DESK, MINISTRY OF DEFENSE BUILDING
A shot of the front desk in the lobby of the Ministry of Defense building. We see a rose gold colored blob creature with five eyes spread out like human fingers and a metal ring on its second arm. They're busy chatting with someone out of view when the comm rings.
The creature stretches one of its three arms out to answer the comm on the second ring; an image of Raiven's face emerging from the base of her larger device by the time she utters their question.
RECEPTIONIST (native language) Natre boosch cay...
The receptionist stops talking and taps the ring two times. It's followed by a few seconds of buzzing and feedback before trying to speak again.
RECEPTIONIST (normal Pfenglish) Sorry about that, Mizz. What branch do you wish to speak to this fine datum?
RAIVEN (to the Receptionist) Yeah, Personal Security Dispatch Office please.
RECEPTIONIST One moment...
The receptionist reaches out and presses a button located below the comm's keypad.
