Ghost Signals, Episode 2: Part 1.3

RAIVEN (Cont.) I've always wondered about that secondary appendage your species house in the base of your torso. Does it remain that size before and after it's needed, or does it change shape to accommodate--

She stops mid-explanation, suddenly realizing the type of offense that such a question would be to Wohminn.

RAIVEN I'm so sorry. I just realized- you probably get asked that question a lot by strangers. I should've asked if it was okay with you beforehand.

WOHMINN (nonchalantly, to Raiven) Don't worry about it, young one. I've lived long enough to have seen the full gamut of well-intentioned and idiotic queries regarding my pohntas.

RAIVEN Where did I fall in?

WOHMINN (thinking) Hmmm...

Wohminn shifts what is considered to be its face toward Ms. O'Ozahl; its ears shifting along in a semi-circle fashion till it realigns in its normal position.

WOHMINN (Cont.) Somewhere between acceptable and choke all of the air out of your lungs.

RAIVEN (learn something new) You're capable of that? Huh. I did not know that.

WOHMINN (correcting) The females of the species can actually. It comes in handy when dealing with skeevs.

RAIVEN (knowing chuckle) I can bet...

CUT TO:

EXT. MINISTRY OF DEFENSE BUILDING- Late Morning

A shot of the Pub Trawl landing a short time later in front of the Ministry of Defense; its four landing gears emerges from the wheel areas. You can see the massive governmental building stretched out to the sky and out of view of the shot, with the logo of the Tristellar Alliance featured prominently in the center of the facade.

CUT TO:

The PT's opened door moments later just as Raiven steps out of the area, past a small group of other passengers leaving at the same time.

RAIVEN (to herself) The biggest military force in existence, and their HQ looks like an overblown dingus- Part humorous, part fitting...

We move to a tracking shot of Ms. O'Ozahl ascending the staircase to the entrance in the sunny yet somewhat gray skies above. You can see people in nice looking military uniforms moving in both directions to the sides. With each step up, there are little thought bubbles that come from Raiven's head theorizing limber ("Long Wait For The Office?", "Massive Stack of Papers?", "Pun on the Fact the Lieutenant's one of those peeps made of Wood?").

CUT TO:

The good Doctor approaching the front entrance moments later. She takes a couple of steps forward toward the off-screen door before stopping at a point; the sights of other people behind her a handful of feet away.

A laser beam then emerges from a security console attached to the door, scanning (to her annoyance) Dr. O'Ozahl's face up and down for a few seconds. After a little bit of analysis from the piece of tech, we see a green light flashing on the top of the device.

COMPUTERIZED VOICE Personal threat level green. Admittance is--is--is--

The voice skitters in and out more for a couple of seconds before finishing the rest of the sentence.

COMPUTERIZED VOICE Admittance is accepted.

RAIVEN (as the door creaks open) Oyich- couldn't have spared some ched for smoother operating security.

CUT TO:

INT. LOBBY, MINISTRY OF DEFENSE BUILDING- Continuous

A panoramic shot of the interior lobby to the MoD building busy with diplomats and soldiers and support staff (of the two-legged, multiple-legged, and cyborg/sentient cloud variety).

It switches to a shot from the ceiling looking down as Ms. O'Ozahl walks inside, looking for any semblance of a map; the TA logo emblazoned in a massive sense on the floor.

CUT TO:

Ground level moments later with a better look at Raiven's search. After a couple of beats, she catches sight of something nearby that seems to call to her.

RAIVEN There we go...

CUT TO:

A shot of what looks like some type of dimensional elevator near the end of the hallway; a platform placed right next to it. You can see a line that stretches out a good deal away from the entrance, moving at a slow but steady pace into the swirling blue vortex.

We move to a shot of her in line, moving forward in the same steadily slow fashion amidst the deep base Electronica musak. As time goes on, Raiven's patience becomes shorter and shorter to the point that she's about to explode in rage.

Just as the good Doctor's about to though, the line springs into life as if someone had pressed the fast forward button.

RAIVEN (steadily excited) Yesssssss---

Suddenly, just as it gets past the middle part of the line, it stops and returns to "normal time."

RAIVEN (frustrated) Flarking shitenogs, that was fun!

We continue on her face back in line, barely containing the annoyance in the situation. Above her face, you can see the graphic "Ten Minuyats Later than they said it would!" emanating from a flying metal disk crossing from left to right. Just before leaving view, the message switches to "Idiots! It's fine, AV'd. Just keep me posted when it comes..."

It moves to a shot of a person just in front of Ms. O'Ozahl typing in a code into the podium keypad. As they step forward into the portal, her comm rings. Steggy's face pops up off the screen a second after she answers.

RAIVEN (surprised, to Steggy) Cap?
