Ghost Signals, Episode 2: Part 3.3
GOONER (more forceful than before) You have five segundos to comply. Five...four...three...
RAIVEN (during the countdown, to Steggy) Welp, that was a whole hells of a lotta horrid. On the plus side, my last words won't be something embarrassing like--
Suddenly, the Gooners' weapons start firing, eliciting a quick scream from the good Doctor; her eyes quickly closed in anticipation of the pain to come. At the exact same second this happens, however, there's a sound like a metal trap snapping shut. But nothing happens. A few seconds pass by, and Raiven realizes this and opens her eyes again.
STEGGY Nice gream, boss...!
The camera widens out to find a ring of laser blasts surrounding our heroine. She walks up to the edge of the ring and touches it with an air of fascination.
STEGGY (Cont.) It's called a Paozl- they use it for crowd control. Would you believe they've only got a Tier 2 secure grid on this base? Ha! You silly meatbags...!
RAIVEN (cringes slightly at touching the laser) Good work, Cap!
STEGGY Don't gawk too much. The freeze effect lasts 10 minuyats before normal time resumes.
RAIVEN (clenching her hand slightly) Right- 'kay.
The good Doctor bends down underneath the laser, and manuevers quickly around the frozen soldier Gooners. A few moments, she reaches the edge of the Paozl bubble and starts running full speed to her destination.
CUT TO:
INT. HANGAR BAY- A Short Time Later
The hangar bay with the door sliding open to reveal Raiven a second later. She steps through the doorway and walks toward the ship with an excited energy that permeates throughout her entire body language.
RAIVEN Whoa...I see why you chose it.
CUT TO:
A profile shot of the Athena-5, a 15-foot star cruiser with a pair of metal wings on both sides; weapons attached 3 to both sides. The overall design of it partially resembles a pirate ship at the bottom and a rounder, sleeker sci-fi styled gray metal for the top half.
Camera moves back on Dr. O'Ozahl a handful of moments later as she moves toward the ship, eyeing around for any sign of the entrance.
STEGGY I know! All you gotta do is forget the mass of bodies rigs like that scorch in their wake.
RAIVEN (sly grin, dreaming) I'll try to make it up to them, after the fame and ched and shiny accolades...the Consortium building a new wing after me!
STEGGY Ya think they'll even allow you back after all this? Technically, you're on suspension from there after not nabbing the S&S order.
RAIVEN True. But one I've learned in 35 rohtlas on this planet- they'll stomach any reprehensible act if they think it'll help them gain more power. (feels around the side of the A-5) Where's the front door on this...?
Just as she's set to finish her sentence, a circle-sized opening appears on the side of the ship. It's followed a split second later by a silver platform as big as a wakeboard that appears and lands on the ground next to her.
She looks at it for a few beats, pleased at the development though puzzled over how it came to be.
RAIVEN Hmmm...V-M navigation system. I've never seen one up close...
Her train of thought is interrupted by a steady thumping coming from the same entrance the good Doctor stepped through earlier.
STEGGY (finishes Raiven's thought, with urgency) Save the geeking out for when there's no more Gooners itching to off us!
RAIVEN (back to business) Right!
Raiven steps onto the platform following the third deep thump from the door, which subsequently explodes it into a million fiery bits.
She watches as four Gooners enter, firing as soon as they can.
Each blast though is protected by a force field emanating from the base of the platform, holding up till Dr. O'Ozahl slips inside the ship; the entranceway closing as the Gooners fire away.
The Gooner Leader, watching this take place, turns his head around 180 degrees in the direction of the bombed out former door.
GOONER LEADER (to his subordinates) Prep the Hrazer!
CUT TO:
A shot of the remaining Gooners assembled just outside the hangar, preparing the aforementioned Hrazer- a massive rocket launcher with an end that looks like the eraser on a pencil.
CUT TO:
INT. HALLWAY, ATHENA-5
Staehlia a few minutes later inside the ship, oblivious to the machinations of the soldiers outside; her eyes gazing all around in search of the ship's command center.
STEGGY Just hang a left at the end of this hall, and it'll be dead at the end.
The camera follows the good Doctor first seeing the area as directed. Then it moves to her cross into the next hallway; her gaze, after a few beats, finding the door off-screen that leads to the command center.
RAIVEN I see it! And I don't hear much shooting behind us. Maybe the Gooners didn't find the entrance...
Her brief spark of optimism is tampered by the blare of klaxons suddenly coming from the ceiling.
