Ghost Signals, Episode 3: Part 1.1
INT. COMMAND CENTER, ATHENA-5- Hours Later
We open on the same image of Dr. O'Ozahl that we ended the previous episode on. Yo can see now, instead of the look of confidence on her face we saw then, a rising sense of stress and worry about the fight to this point; the area around roughed up and damaged as a result of a consistently sustained battle.
STEGGY (warning, to Raiven) Things are calm for now, Doc. But at their current speeds, the Attackers will be back in firing range well before we hit the border.
RAIVEN (weary sigh) How much time?
STEGGY 10-15 minuyats, maybe less given the state of our right engine.
RAIVEN Just enough time to make our corpses pretty- flarktastic...! (scrambling for an answer) Okay. Outrunning them's officially gone. You get a good bead on any of their respective arsenals?
STEGGY (casual) Standard bombas, regen protos- nothing above a Lev-3 deadliness wise. But just enough to turn us to dust, given the sorry state of our shielding.
RAIVEN Right. Figged as much... (thinking pause) We have anything that may counter it, or slow some of the bett'n things down?
STEGGY (suggestive) There's a sonic cannon attached to the left wing- could prove useful maybe to disable the Attackers for a time till we reach the border.
RAIVEN Hmmm...how accurate is the weapon, if you know?
STEGGY Technically, it's not a weapon but a "research tool" according to the manifest. But given that it's called a Sonic Cannon...I doubt it has a great deal of accuracy. But its' usefulness is still in play.
RAIVEN (pause, unsure) Nah. Let's hold off on it till absolutely necessary.
Just as the words leave her mouth, the ship is suddenly halted in its tracks; the command center shakes violently from side to side as a result.
RAIVEN (startled) Thought you said the Attackers weren't in firing range.
STEGGY That's wasn't an Attacker. That was something quite larger.
CUT TO:
A large exterior shot of a massive SkyCruiser in the skies- a battleship with three points where the engines are located and a metal ring around it. You can see a white beam out the base of the Cruiser, latching on to the Athena-5 and pulling it toward them.
CUT TO:
INT. COMMAND CENTER, ATHENA-5
The Command center a few seconds later. Raiven chuckles at the sight of it as a way to mask any rush of terror that has hit her then.
RAIVEN Hello life of misery in a dark hole!
STEGGY If we're so fortunate....you want me to put on ya music playlist? No sense in getting cuffed without some good tunes.
RAIVEN (brief genuine chuckle) Sure. No sense getting hauled to a prison sat without...
Dr. O'Ozahl stops mid-thought, seemingly inspired by a brain blast that hits her. You can see a grin steadily growing into a full-blown smile with a steady chuckle as she springs off the chair.
RAIVEN Ohhh....Ohh, that--
STEGGY (looking for a clue to her body language) ...What?
RAIVEN (pacing side to side, to herself) If I can funnel the right sounds, time the shot perfectly...I could leave it and the Attackers firmly in the dust. (pause) Then again, it's possible they're not fooled and turn us into dust--
STEGGY (interjecting, annoyed) For the love of the bloody gods, what the hells are you on about?!
RAIVEN (looks up at Steggy, apologetic) Oh flark- right. Got a little zoomy again... (explanatory shift) I know how we can duck past that SkyCruiser: the Athena-5 carry any probes that refract sound outward?
STEGGY Aye, the TX-7. What does that have to do with...? (realizes her plan) Ohh, I see! The Mim-O.
