Ghost Signals, Episode 3: Part 4.1
RAIVEN You get any closer to finding out who the mystery pilot is?
STEGGY (from the speakers) None. I've tried hailing it on the comm three times using three different communication styles. Whoever it is, they're not gabbing.
RAIVEN Maybe they're not in communication range.
STEGGY Maybe...
At the end of the walkway railing, the Doctor turns right and takes a couple of steps before speaking.
RAIVEN Sounds like you're not onboard that theory.
STEGGY No, it's an entirely feasible theory Doc. I'm more focused by...
Suddenly, a loud rumble comes through the whole scene that sends Raiven down to one knee; half of the captain's chair visible to the right of the screen.
STEGGY (Cont., as Raiven gets back to her feet) The Plasrocs targeted square at us a segundo after you came in.
RAIVEN (bugged) You couldn't have led with that, Cap?!
STEGGY I was going to tell you. I got a bit busy on the comm, and I didn't figure they'd be weapons hot this soon.
Just as Raiven gets back up, the Center shakes again as the next Plasroc hits. The impact of the blast ends up getting her slightly wobbly on her feet and tumbling hard onto the chair.
STEGGY (Cont.) Don't worry, we're gonna be okay- I think. Shields are still in the green, and I just primed our Plasrocs. They should be off just before theirs comes at us.
RAIVEN Good, good. Stay full bore on the speed. Keep us as close as we can to the path.
STEGGY Aye aye, Doc...
CUT TO:
An exterior of the Athena-5 moments after Riven's order, increasing its overall speed. You can see a yellow-orange spark from the front of the ship, followed shortly by the Plasroc curving above the top toward its intended target.
We see a shot of AC Dez-Lei's ship moving hard to the left in order to dodge the weapon, but still takes a decent blow from it that isn't absorbed by its shields.
CUT TO:
INT. COCKPIT, AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (pause, keeping hold of things) Bett'nit! (to Aru) Any damage to the ship?
ARU (from the speakers, to AC Second Class Dez-Lei) Minimal, madam AC. Shield took the brunt of it, though the resulting shockwave ended up dinging the holodeck and our left front engines.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (not fazed) Nothing you couldn't fix on your own once it's over, yes?
ARU Already doing so.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Excellent, Aru. Match speed and path. Shift to weapon setting- the Rattler.
ARU Big boom or Mute?
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Mute, definitely. Orders state we are to keep the Athena-5 in one piece. Once that's achieved, we can lower the boom on the swine who stole it.
CUT TO:
A shot of the bottom of Dez-Lei's ship moments later as a long cannon emerges. There's a three count long charge from the top of it before the first of its blue-green rounds shoots out.
We move to a shot of the rounds moments later; the rear of the Athena-5 visible in the foreground. At first, the ship is able to weave side to side away from some of the dangerous armaments. After a time though, the Rattler rounds hit their target again and again.
In the middle of this, as the A-5's shields start to degrade, another round of the Plasrocs are launched in the same circular fashion back at Dez-Lei.
CUT TO:
INT. COMMAND CENTER, ATHENA-5
RAIVEN (tightly gripping the armrests, to Steggy) Tell me you got another way to beat these shite nugs.
STEGGY (from the speakers, to Raiven) No idea yet. My processing power's a bit busy at the mo keeping us from getting tagged without losing speed or course.
RAIVEN Still, I wouldn't mind if you spared a little bit of power for something explosive to lob at them.
STEGGY We've been hucking Plasrocs at it for a flarking horut, and laser cannons went MIA with that last round. Barring any type of miracle--
RAIVEN (guessing the rest of the statement) We're boned?
STEGGY I wouldn't quite say "boned," Doc. Shields are holding up (albeit barely). We still have power and the engines are still strong enough we can--
Suddenly, the power to the Command Center goes off along with the rest of the ship (which we see in a brief flashback before coming back to the good Doctor).
