Ghost Signals, Episode 4: Part 2.1
ARU It's Aru, Doctor. I accept your
apology- I recognize it was in
the heat of battle. (pause) What are you planning to do with the AC Second Class, if I may ask?
CUT TO:
INT. BRIG, ATHENA-5- Minutes Later
The good Doctor throwing the balled-up AC Second Class into the cell of the Brig as the conversation goes on; the muffled "THUMP!" of it hitting the floor and the "SLAM!" as it stops on the wall heard after the throw.
Afterwards, Raiven goes over and, via a specific keycode (81485), unleashes a door made of pure energy locking Dez-Lei in place. At the end of it, we see her start to walk off back to the entrance door; the cell moving farther and farther away from camera view.
RAIVEN (V.O.) The AC'll be fine. Once I do what I came out here to do, I'll release her back to your ship and you can...do whatever you feel's necessy from there.
ARU (V.O.) That's a considerably high amount of trust for souls you've barely met.
RAIVEN (V.O.) True. But my compatriot Steggy vouched for you, and...I trust her with my life. Besides, I like to think "not getting plopped into space" buys some trust on her end.
CUT TO:
INT. COMMAND CENTER, ATHENA-5- Minutes Later
The entrance doors to the Command Center as they swing open, revealing the good Doctor as she walks in a short time after depositing of Dez-Lei in the brig. She glances over at the screen, watching the stars pass by as she walks.
STEGGY (from the speakers, to Raiven) You're wondering if this Taffy chica's got friendos coming for her.
RAIVEN (obvious, to Steggy) And you're not?
At the end of the walkway, we see Steggy materialize with a concerned look on her face waiting for her friend to come down to her.
STEGGY Honestly? I think she's alone. If she wasn't, we'd have seen a hells of a lot more Attackers on our arse by now. (as Raiven passes, walking alongside her) It doesn't mean I'm not worried what she'll pull off once she wakes up. (stops, along with Raiven)
RAIVEN (thinking pause) Agreed. These Brigs- they have a pretty strong security system, for unruly prisoners?
STEGGY For military ships, sure. But this is a science rig. We're fortunate it even has a working door.
RAIVEN So, we just sit on our hands and hope it doesn't end horribly?
STEGGY I... (thinking pause; it comes to her) I got it!
RAIVEN (knows what Steggy's gonna say; not impressed) If you're talking about the bett'n sonic cannons again, I'm gonna go with a hard no. (leaves to the captain's chair)
STEGGY (following behind Raiven) But it--
RAIVEN (interjects over Steggy) It's way too powerful to use inside without offing us all.
STEGGY (explanatory) We know it. The AC Second Class- that's another story...
RAIVEN (confused) What do you mean?
STEGGY Well, we know she's a good Taffy jockey thoroughly in the thrall of TA propaganda. It'd stand to reason that she isn't that well- versed in terms of weaponry.
RAIVEN Hmm...decent idea. But what if she's not as intellectually dense as you believe her to be?
STEGGY I can always cook up a dummy device before she wakes, then conjure a plausible story strong enough that--
A light red colored alarm flashes on from a screen on a nearby console, attracting the CGAI's attention.
STEGGY (Cont.) Nevermind! Looks like we're winging it. We've been getting pretty good at it anyway, right?
RAIVEN (chuckle) Yeah... (leans away from the chair) In case we end up taking on another well-armed enemy, you'll get me on the horn- preferably after blowing it to dust.
STEGGY (chuckles as Raiven leaves) Obvi...best of fortune down there!
RAIVEN (looks back in Steggy's direction) Many thanks. Same to you.
CUT TO:
INT. DEZ-LEI'S CELL, BRIG
A shot of the AC Second Class, already broken out of her former encasement, trying to break out of her cell using part of the dried Ferbonium underneath a set of the bars. As she does though, within a matter of moments, the chunk explodes into a dozen different bits; the force of which sends Dez-Lei back a handful of feet.
She slowly pushes herself back up to her feet, groaning a bit by the soreness of another failed attempt. As this goes on, you can hear the sound of a door opening and uproarious laughter that follows a bit later from off-screen left.
