Ghost Signals, Episode 4: Part 2.2
RAIVEN (V.O.) Not a bad idea, at least from a theoretical perspective.
Raiven looks on at her prisoner a few feet from the edge of the brig's doors with her hands in her pockets; a wide smile on her face, observing the whole scene as it happened.
RAIVEN (Cont.) But the explosive capabilities of Ferbonium, although impressive, are rendered moot when placed against metal buffeted by Ferbonium. Kinda like slapping two wet rags together.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (scoffs, standing upright; to Raiven) Can we lay off the brainy boasting, Doctor? We both know you intend to off me right now.
RAIVEN (shakes her head) Not at all, Taffy. There was an alarm that popped up a few mins ago in the commander center. Thought I'd pop down here for a little bit, see how you're holding up.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Ah, even worse. This is an attempt to "bond with the prisoner through levity"- a poor attempt at that!
RAIVEN Well, knocking you out a few horuts ago brought me great levity, I'll admit. But it's not important here.
She goes over to a point in the wall across from her, and presses a button on a console. From a dispenser below, we see a stool connected to a bar shoot out and land on the floor next to her.
RAIVEN (amazed, looking at it) Huh. Didn't know it did that...! (back to business, sitting down; to AC Second Class Dez- Lei) Anyway, the real rationale for being here has to do with lessening my worries about you planning an escape from my ship.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Like you even had a chance to stop it. (suspicious) I see it now! You're planning an attack on Capitol, aren't you? You're gonna gather some pirates and try to--
RAIVEN (interjecting mocking laugh) I'm not trying to overthrow the government. Though it certain as shite needs it! As I've told you multiple times now, I'm here purely on a mission of science connected to the Ghost Signals.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (excited) Ghost Signals? I've spent horuts on the 'Net theorizing what the species are and what they're like. Some say they're barbarian in nature, but I think they're more techno-organic in design like the Applacians on--
She stops speaking upon noticing the thoroughly stunned look on Raiven's face. There's a fairly long pause between the two of them before Dez-Lei speaks again.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (Cont., defensively) What? You hold the only rein to being versed in multiple subjects outside of the military?
RAIVEN Given the fact the bulk of our interaction's involved beating the living hells out of each other- yeah, kinda thought I did.
Dez-Lei rolls her eyes and walks away to the back of the cell at the comment.
RAIVEN (Cont.) It does provide some incentive to let me engage in my mission to the full. That and besting the others on the Forums.
The AC Second Class takes in the statement for a few moments of thought before replying with a less antagonistic body language than she had before.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Dez-Lei deCaar.
RAIVEN What?
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI My full name. I haven't given it to you and I assume your CGAI hasn't given it to you. I figured it would make a sufficient example of my agreement to your proposal.
RAIVEN Okay. Cool... (V.O.) Didn't think it would be that easy.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI In return for allowing this, once this mission reaches its end...I want you to surrender to the authorities once we cross back to TA space.
The good Doctor waits a couple of seconds to respond to the caveat.
RAIVEN (stammering) W--W--You want me to forfeit my freedom to the Alliance--?
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (interjecting) It's not a forfeiture. You would go through the same judicial process as any other citizen. Be presented the same chances for--
RAIVEN The same process? Hah! That's flarking rich--!
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (over top Raiven) Whatever you think of the Alliance's judical system is irrelevant here. Regardless of whatever flawed display of nobility you built the act from, you and your digital comrade have still committed a goodly amount of violations. And like all common criminals, you must own up to your crimes and face the consequences.
