RAIVEN I see it!
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Okay. Pour the solution right in the hole in the middle of it and latch the bad boy shut.
Raiven pours the sample into the tube and closes the overall hatch shut.
RAIVEN (as she steps back) How long does it usually take to finish making this alt-fuel?
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Roughly 45 to an horut, depending on technical issues and the like.
RAIVEN Ahh...
The camera focuses on the two of them for a time stuck in a period of awkward silence; one person waiting for the other to speak.
RAIVEN (curious) So...you have any cool programs on your Holodeck, while we wait?
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ LEI (pause) I have an archive of the Best of the Beschuldigig.
RAIVEN (excited) Really? I love the Beschuldigig!
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Huh. I wouldn't have pegged you as a fan of such flag waving fare?
RAIVEN I haven't missed one since I came to Capitol. I mean, rich doucheas beating the ever flarking shite out of each other? Nothing tops that! (pause) You have the battle between PC Domyian and Cortabot-5?
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Of course- one of the best gigs of all time.
RAIVEN The bloodiest too, if I remember. Which you wouldn't think, given that one of the competitors was a mecha.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Yeah...
The two continue conversating with one another as they turn around and head for the door leading them back to the meat of the ship.
CUT TO:
INT. COMMAND CENTER, ATHENA-5- Minutes Later
Steggy dancing around and singing to another of JA3IE=7 BOW'EX's songs, "G2l3nn Ro6l1s" in a moment of exuberant calm waiting for the fleshbags to finish. The camera stays on her for a time till suddenly we hear a crackle that comes in inbetween certain parts of the song.
ARU (from the speaker, to Steggy) Umm, Mz. Steggy...?
No response from Steggy. Two beat pause.
ARU (repeating, a little louder) Mz. Steggy...?
No response from Steggy. Three beat pause.
ARU (near screaming) Mz. Steggy!
The last scream slightly startles Steggy, stopping her dance routine at that moment. She gathers herself quickly and glances up to the ceiling.
STEGGY (to Aru) Just napping, Aru...what's up?
ARU I'm picking up something on radar charging right at us.
STEGGY Another Attacker, maybe the AC's buddo?
ARU Negative. This isn't military class. It's smaller, not taking any of our auto Hails. It's 300 metros from us and closing.
STEGGY (worried) Give me the bet pic of this mystery object.
She hops over the railing and walks in the direction of the captain's chair; her left hand making a forward motion to the screen as she does.
CUT TO:
A shot of the main screen, showing the empty section of space that the Athena-5 happens to be traversing through at this moment. The only object in view, outside of the side of a moon to the right, is a brown-gray dot in the center-left section of the screen.
STEGGY (pondering) Hmmm...any way we can clean this bad boy up?
ARU I'm not really familiar with your ship's operations. But I'll do my best...
We go back to the screen where a second later the image zooms in the section where the mystery dot is coming from. For a brief period of time, we see a good look at the object for the first time albeit for a fraction of a second.
Then it comes back to Steggy taking in the discovery for the first time with curiosity and a touch of worry on her face.
STEGGY
Oh boy...thinking we might need the fleshbags for this one!
