Ghost Signals, Episode 5: Part 3.1
Dez chuckles and nods in brief acknowledgment as she walks out of listening range. Raiven, meanwhile, shakes her head at the statement and turns toward the object.
RAIVEN (to herself) That sounded much, much better in my head...Anyway. (opening the toolkit) Time for some blessed Science!
CUT TO:
A montage of the good Doctor steadily taking the object apart piece by piece, focused on that left section that caught her eye from the initial scan.
At the end of the montage, with just under an hour of actual time having elapsed, Raiven finds the piece she saw at that moment. She slowly and very carefully detaches it from the machine over the course of a few moments, leaving it in her left hand.
RAIVEN (observing it) Huh...I pictured this would be far heavier.
She flips the little disc around and notices the connectors on the lower half of it. She reaches into her toolkit and grabs a mini microscope.
RAIVEN (as she places the microscope on her left eye) The outlets on the wall are equivalent for the job. (zooms in) The size of 'em is a little bit smaller than the outlets on this ship. My 4-in-1 shoud be able to connect the two together, albeit with a little bit of force. (to Steggy) Hey Steggy, before you get too deep with Dez- you mind 'porting me back to the lab with my data?
STEGGY Not at all, buddo. I've just wrapped up suit diagnostics with the AC. Just give me a segundo.
CUT TO:
INT. AIR LOCK- Short Time Later
The AC Second Class a short time later tightening the helmet around the collar of her red and black colored space suit; her eyes looking straight ahead with calm stoicism, holding the sizable fuel vial.
ARU (from the speakers) Opening air lock...
A second later, we hear the doors slide open from off-screen. She takes a deep breath and slowly moves straight to the opened doorway, leaping gently out a few moments later.
CUT TO:
An action shot of the soldier descending down to the Athena-5; the glow of one of her ship's lights briefly hitting the side of her helmet.
STEGGY (from the helmet speaker, to AC Second Class Dez- Lei) The fuel tank is on the rear- 45 degree shift to your left.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (nods) Got it...
The soldier presses two of her fingers on the palm of her right hand, which activates a burst of white fire from the back of the suit. A second later, we see her tilt toward the left where Steggy directed.
CUT TO:
A wide shot of the Athena-5 moments later. You can see Dez-Lei in the distance from the top of the screen view, curving smoothly to compensate for the curve of the ship as she nears the destination.
CUT TO:
A close-up moments later of Mz. de Caar landing on the wing with a solid, yet not too loud, "THUMP!" As before, we see her clutching the vial in her left hand. She then turns her head to the left a beat later and starts walking as Steggy speaks.
STEGGY The door to the fuel distrib center should be about 50 taps dead straight.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Okay... (making conversation at 4 taps) Just outta curiosity- how did you come to be immersed in all this?
STEGGY How did I come to be? Well, when a line of code is blended with a Holo-compatible matteboard...
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI That is not what I meant. The typical lab CGAIs, from my understanding, normally don't engage in the types of harrowing acts your Dr. O'Ozahl puts you in.
STEGGY (understands) You wanna know if it was how the Doc made me, or if I'm merely a fluke of defective software?
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (nods, slight hemming and hawing) Though I wouldn't use the word "defective" as a descriptor.
STEGGY (chuckle, pause) It's how she made me. The Doc wanted an AI who could provide her a...unique view on what she was working on. One not necessarily attached to logic and structures like most other AIs.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Interesting. What was the base for your personality?
STEGGY The base is a blend off an entity from Li'Freyan text, and...her Pater. The rest I've tweaked and added with updates over the rohtlas.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI An admirable mixture... (wanting clarification on one point) So, where did the name originate from?
STEGGY It's a blending of the names used for my personality- Str'lax and Deoiggy.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Much weirder and...understandable too, somehow.
STEGGY (chuckles, sly grin) Pretty basic for us. (back to business) You should be under the doors to the engine right about...now!
