Ghost Signals, Episode 6: Part 1.1

EXT. STUDIO LOT, CENTURY CITY- Moments After the End of Episode 5

We open on the last shot of the previous episode moments later. At this point, you can see a shadow form over the area with the approach of the Athena-5.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (Off-Screen) This is the location?

RAIVEN

(Off-Screen) It's the closest approximation I could come up with, given the last scan as we crossed atmo.

CUT TO:

INT. CARGO BAY

Raiven and the soldier in the cargo bay as they land. Dez is in her space suit, waiting for the doors to open up and whatever is coming their way. The good Doctor, meanwhile, is seen in the background near the Ferbonium box loosening the Jahukagonis.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI The area is less lively than I surmised it would be. In fact, it looks like it's been through a considerable conflict.

RAIVEN Agreed. It's possible though that this is part of a nocturnal cycle we haven't observed.

CUT TO:

A close-up on Dr. O'Ozahl a moment later, also wearing a space suit (albeit of a slightly different color scheme than the AC Second Class), detaching the last lock from the right of the cage while looking over at Mz. de Caar. She then moves around to the other side to engage in the same process there.

RAIVEN (Cont.) The Tivosians over in the outer burrs spend a shade over half of the natural datum underground due to their sensitivity to sunlight. It'd certainly jive with these temperature readings I'm seeing.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Tivos has those spinning Ox-Iars in stationary orbit, right? Probably has a role in that too, I imagine.

RAIVEN Yeah. Yeah it is. (starts unlocking procedures) As we were about to cross the atmosphere, I almost thought this planet held a similar feature given the gray ring around it. Then one well-timed rocket blast and...

As she says this, there's a little bit of shaking side-to-side as the ship hits the teeth of the sandstorm. It lasts for a few beats before settling down.

STEGGY (from the speakers) Apologies there, guys. Got whomped by a bad gust that came outta nowhere. Nothing dangerous though...should be touching down momentarily.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (as she tries to regain her balance) If that isn't a bad omen...!

Raiven chuckles briefly before returning to the last sequence of locks on the box to set her machine free.

BACK TO:

EXT. STUDIO LOT, CENTURY CITY

The lot outside in the same layout from earlier moments later as the Athena-5 lands safely on the ground, albeit somewhat noisily via the crunch of billboards and long fallen rubble directly underneath.

After the ship has stabilized on the makeshift metal/rock platform, we see an energy dome spring from the top of the ship covering it all in a cloak of invisiblity along with the chunk of land around it.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (V.O.) You had this device in your arsenal, and you didn't think to use it when our paths first crossed?

CUT TO:

An action shot of Dez-Lei and Raiven walking out of the cargo bay in their respective suits; the soldier is a step ahead of the good Doctor. You can see the Jahukagonis has changed shape just enough that it can be strapped to Raiven's back as she walks.

RAIVEN In my defense, I didn't know it was a thing till a few datums ago.

STEGGY (from both helmet speakers) And in mine...I was more looking to blow you guys outta the sky back then than sneak past ya.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (chuckles, to herself) Wow, you are...terrible pirates!

Raiven chuckles and lifts her right wrist up to eye level and starts typing away on a wrist comm. A few moments later, a little marble shoots up to the sky; the camera following it briefly before disappearing into the light brown-yellow colored sky. Then, it returns to Dr. O'Ozahl a second later.

RAIVEN (placing her wrist comm back to her side) That should help scan for any Ya'ahala pockets within 100 mietros of our position.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI How long till we get the first read-out?

RAIVEN (to AC Second Class Dez-Lei, moving closer to her) Anywhere from half an horut to three horuts, depending on any atmospheric interference and- well, decent fortune.

CUT TO:

INT. COMMAND CENTER, ATHENA-5- Continuous

Steggy back in the command center, standing behind a section of the rear console chatting with the two of them as they reach the end of the walkway.

STEGGY (enthusiastic, to Raiven) While that's going down, I'll spark up another atmo scan. Check if the air's breathable by our standards.
