Ghost Signals, Episode 6: Part 1.3
CUT TO:
EXT. CORNER OF MONTE MAR AND SOUTH BEVERLY DRIVE- Minutes Later
An elevated shot of the two of them crossing through a intersection a short time later that is surrounded by a considerable amount of shiny somewhat futuristic-looking houses. You can also see a couple of electric power stations placed closer in view of the shot and up the street in the distance.
The view moves a little bit closer as the soldier notices something sizable in the distance in front of their path. Something that seemingly evades the gaze of the good Doctor who is busy looking over at a collection of data coming from her comm.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Doctor...
RAIVEN In a minuyat, Dez. I'm just about to get the results from that pink slimy substance we came across 10 mietros back.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI There's something else more prescient for your time than foul smelling gunk.
RAIVEN (looks up from the comm at Dez-Lei without seeing the object) I fail to see how that could...
Dr. O'Ozahl's train of thought trails off as she runs square in the middle of a massive bone of some kind. She shakes off the shock briefly and looks up to find the bleached remains that once was a whale; the AC Second Class joins alongside her a second later, looking up at the poor deceased creature. RAIVEN (with renewed glee) Oooo- what are you little jewel?
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Try not to get greasy examining the bone.
RAIVEN (chuckles) Not sure I can promise that, Dez.
Raiven latches her hands to both sides of the bone. She then proceeds to pull back with as much power and stength as she can muster. Which holds up for no more than a handful of seconds before the good Doctor loses grip and falls down.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (chuckles) Need a little help? Maybe a lil' boosto for those wobby noodles you call arms...?
RAIVEN (getting back to her feet with help from Dez) Just didn't get a proper grip on it. Next time should do the trick.
Dr. O'Ozahl goes back to the bone, grips both sides and pulls as before. The second attempt lasts a little longer than the first, generating some wiggle of loosening. But as before...it ends with her back on the ground.
It holds this same pattern a couple of more times with Mz. de Caar looking on and chuckling. After the third time, the soldier walks over toward the set of bones, taking out her pocket Carver from her right hip.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI As delightful as this little display is, we should wrap this before the slumber time.
She leaps up and perfectly slices the individual bone, landing back on the ground- all within the span of three seconds.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (Cont., picking up the bone) Not to mention that I haven't eaten a scrap since the morgen. Hells, I'd eat that pink slime we came across if it tasted like grill Guangass.
Dez-Lei glances back down at the bone a moment later; an idea popping suddenly into her head. Before the soldier can proceed to slice a cut from the bone, Raiven comes in and pilfers the bone away.
RAIVEN It's the first sign of life on this planet since we landed. At least one with a skeletal system. I can't have you harming a single hair on that thing until I've gotten a better look at this thing's genetic map. AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (relenting) Okay. Fair enough.
RAIVEN Afterwards, you are more than free to chomp away at it.
Over the course of a few seconds, the bone condenses down in size and shape into the palm before completely disappearing from view up to her laboratory.
CUT TO:
INT. RAIVEN'S LABORATORY- Moments Later
Steggy standing in front of the same iPad-looking device we saw earlier. The bone that we saw only seconds before slowly appears by magic from the center of the device in full form.
STEGGY I just finished going through that nasty pink fungus thing! (confused) What the hells did the Doc nab now...?
A second later, we see the bone start to drop down onto the table. The CGAI reaches out and grabs the skeletal piece before it could crash down, holding it by the top at first before moving her grip to the middle part.
STEGGY (remarks) Thank the gods for Pymha controls. (carries it to another part of the lab) Urghh! Still heavier than a flarking half-dohzeen Maniicras!
Steggy takes three more steps before placing the bone on the table.
STEGGY Okay then... (sighs) Let's get the tools out and engage in some science.
Before she's able to start working, we hear a quick series of beeps coming from off-screen left that grabs her attention.
STEGGY (pause, excited) We got a Ya' ping! ('ports out of the room)
CUT TO:
INT. COMMAND CENTER- Seconds Later
A shot of the CGAI popping back into the middle of the command center; the room filled with a consistent set of beeps coming from off-screen right. The camera then closes in on Steggy as she moves over to the radar screen which is scanning the ground via the probe. On the screen, our heroines are represented by a pair of dots in the upper left section.
