Ghost Signals, Episode 7: Part 2.2

CUT TO:

An action shot of the soldier at a separate part of the store a few minutes later in search of one of the Opal rings Raiven mentioned earlier. You can hear the sound of footsteps and muted noise off-screen from the continued experiment.

It remains this way for a few moments longer till you can hear a single "PING!" coming from within Dez-Lei's suit.

STEGGY (from the speaker, to AC Second Class Dez-Lei) Dawwhellz, guys! I'm picking up something charging from the south west directly at ya.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (concerned, to Steggy) The huminns we encountered earlier?

STEGGY Unlikely. There's only one heart beat visible. Also it let loose a shriek that I'm pretty sure these huminns don't have the air capacity to pull off.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (confused) What'd the shriek sound like?

The sound of a powerful shriek suddenly comes from the area Steggy spoke from earlier. It's a blend of a hawk, lion, and bear in terms of noise. Mz. de Caar rises up from the crouched position she was in before.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (Cont., suddenly scared) Oh shite...!

STEGGY That answer your question?

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI I'd flarking say so! How long till it's in sight?

STEGGY Few minuyats, give or take...

Dez-Lei detaches her weapon from her side, pressing it a couple of times. As she speaks, you can see the weapon turn into two separate blades that look like thicker sai.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Enough time to get to businesss. Make sure my pretty mug stays pretty for mi-ama when we...well. (grin, chuckle) Ya know.

CUT TO:

An action shot of the AC Second Class running past Raiven as she continues listening to the holographic scene of the past. It takes the good Doctor a few seconds to notice the soldier pass by, and she pauses the scene briefly.

Raiven pauses the display, takes out one of the earbuds and turns to Mz. de Caar just before she walks out of view.

RAIVEN (to AC Second Class Dez-Lei) A little mental distraction bogging ya down?

We move to a shot of the soldier a moment later at the front entrance to the bombed out store, looking back at Raiven's direction to answer.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (unsure, to Raiven) Give me about five more minuyats to bag this daft meat pile, Doctor.

CUT TO:

An exterior shot from the same area, minutes later, with the AC Second Class charging forward full-speed at the creature; long blades in both hands, ready to strike. On the other side is the creature itself- a massive flying gila monster-like creature with wings and feathers on top of its green-brown scales.

A few seconds later, with the aid of a psychic command, the rockets on her suit are activated and we see the soldier fly up to strike the first blow.

She lands on top of the creature, and a fight immediately commences. Blood is soon shed on both sides as they buzz around in disjointed lines in the barren sky. Occasionally, the creature slams into the sides of a few buildings nearby.

Finally, after a few more bits of action, Dez strikes a blow deep enough into the creature to kill it; its carcass landing with an earth shaking "THUD!" in the area of the city known as Silver Lake.

EXT. SILVER LAKE

From the smoke and the haze of the wreckage, we see Mz. de Caar emerge, sliding down the creature to the ground below; the scars on her body and tears in her suit on full display in the center of the shot.

A few moments later, the torn sections dislodge from the top half of the suit down to the ground. Dez-Lei takes both ends of the blades and reconnects them again, triggering the transformation back to its original rectangular configuration.

After a handful of steps, a beam of energy emanates from her wrist, forming a holographic image of Raiven.

RAIVEN (concerned, to AC Second Class Dez- Lei) You still in one piece?

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (nods, to Raiven) Every step I take is a screaming swirl of misery. But...still breathing.

RAIVEN You get a good look at the creature during the battle? Did it have a spongy shape, or was it more dense like a...?

Before the good Doctor can finish the rest of her statement, the AC Second Class takes a step to her left, giving Raiven a perfect look at the creature that's still in viewing distance.

RAIVEN (taken aback, then examines it carefully) Huh. Did not expect that. (notices something) Is that--three heads I spy?

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (shakes her head) It's a single head, though it does have three mouths. How I found that out...I most definitely do not want to mention.

RAIVEN (shrugs) It still looks better than Doongi dreisloog.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Fair point...have you finished the upload from the previous site?

RAIVEN Just about, yeah. I got the coordinates for the next site from Steggy while you were bouting. It's not that far from here.

AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Interesting. I'll catch up with you after I...rest a bit.
