Ghost Signals, Episode 7: Part 3.2
She goes down on one knee at this moment; her hand extended outward, stretched toward Renee.
MINA (Cont.) Be my life. (speaking) ...Be my life?
RENEE (pause, teary-eyed as the singing continues) Yes. As long as this maddening planet is still spinning, and long after...yes!
Mina slips the finger onto her hand, and the two kiss passionately; the rainbow colors illuminating both of their faces at that moment.
AXE (singing Off-Screen as they kiss) Creo que lo dijeron en serio Cuando dijeron que no puedes comprar amor Ahora sé que puedes alquilarlo. Al menos tu eres mi amor--
Suddenly the singing stops, along with the rest of the scene; the image frozen in place.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (V.O.) Why did you pause there?
CUT TO:
A shot of Raiven taking a few steps to the side of the Jahukagonis, observing the image and quickly writing it down on her comm.
RAIVEN It's the first example we've seen of the huminns courting ritual in action. The data it's shown...
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Hold a min- there's been plenty of Signals that have shown that before. This isn't the first.
RAIVEN True, but those Signals always felt artificial. As if they lacked a sense of genuiness or spontaneity.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Genuine, in what way?
RAIVEN Probably in the same way it was when you met L'Jahna.
The soldier smiles, remembering to herself that precise moment, as Dr. O'Ozahl finishes typing.
RAIVEN (Cont., glances up at the sky) Alright. I suspect we can squeeze in another few horuts of work before darkness falls and we have to find shelter once again. (to Steggy) Cap, any other energy pockets matching this signature? Or energy pockets in general?
STEGGY (from the speaker, to Raiven) There's one 15 metros to the west. But I don't think you're gonna have much time to explore it.
RAIVEN Why's that?
CUT TO:
INT. COMMAND CENTER, ATHENA-5
The CGAI looking over a display of the radar placed on the main screen of the command center. You can see a set of orange-red waves moving in from the northeast down to our heroines' position (symbolized on the screen as green dots).
RAIVEN (Cont., from the speaker) Votbett'n--Another one of this planet's mutates?
STEGGY (shakes his head) It's an energy emanating from within the planet's crust. Been building up for the past 20 segundos--
Suddenly, the center rumbles violently as the earthquake formally hits. Concerned and scared, the CGAI sprints over to the pilot's chair and immediately starts pressing buttons and turning levers. As she speaks, you can hear only the sound of static coming from the speakers.
STEGGY (as she does it) If I've done this correctly, all I need to do is turn this gear out and to the left and I should gain control of steering.
A second later, she pulls the wheel upward off the ground once more; the shaking stopping as the spaceship takes to the sky again.
STEGGY (relieved breath) 'Kay. If I had bowels, this would be the perfect time to unclench--
Just as she says it, the area shakes again by the impact of a building smacking into the side of the ship. Unlike before, it stabilizes without much further issues.
STEGGY (sure) Okay...that should do it. Thank the Gods for that.
RAIVEN (from the speaker) Steggy! You alright?
STEGGY I'm good- ship as well. How about you and the soldier?
CUT TO:
EXT. 10 FEET FROM WHERE THEY STOOD
Raiven and the AC Second Class standing side-by-side on top of what appears to be one of the floating white discs we saw earlier.
RAIVEN We're okay. There was a fairly deep surface scare stretching 5 metros north from us. Some of the buildings still standing close by were crumbled, but it was far enough we weren't in real danger.
STEGGY (from the speaker) What about the big J?
RAIVEN It's operative, no damage in the exterior. There was a threat a chunk of debris might hit the Mem Core, but it missed by a halb-mietro.
STEGGY (from the speaker) Brilliant...
