Ghost Signals, Episode 8: Part 1.3
INT. SECONDARY SCHOOL- Few Minutes Later
The group inside the halls of the school, illuminated by a series of lights that have begun to flicker on as they walk. In the background, as Jaryd's speaking, you can see a series of doors belonging to a series of different classes that take place during normal hours.
JARYD This first floor is for those students with high proficiency in their 1st levels for Architecture and Base machinery. The second floor is slated for those students with high proficiency in subjects like History or Literature...
RAIVEN (curious, to Jaryd) What age do these young huminns take "1st levels?"
JARYD 8-9 years old, give or take.
STEGGY (surprised) Bit young to be testing them on subjects so dense. I mean, unless their brains are far more pliant and open than I surmised.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (nonchalant, to Steggy) I learned of battle strategy and diplomatic negotiation of backward cultures at that age.
JARYD (witty, to AC Second Class Dez-Lei) It must have been a brief tutelage...
There is a little smattering of laughter amongst the group, save for Dez-Lei who merely rolls her eyes. Jaryd, meanwhile, opens one of the doors and leads them into the room.
JARYD (Cont., to Steggy) As for the first point- the testing isn't solely weighed by the given text.
CUT TO:
INT. CLASSROOM- Continuous
The lights inside the room flicker on the moment the five of them enter the classroom, immediately showing three rows of desks going back to the wall. You can see, just in front of the LED blackboard, a circular platform with a ring above it and a charging station at the center of said ring.
JARYD (Cont., to the rest of the group) We also try to ensure their creativity is allowed to operate fully, regardless of the subject. The balance ensures that we get a good idea how the child will do in that subject at adulthood.
STEGGY (curious, to Jaryd) What does a normal Primary-level class look like?
JARYD The class comes primarily from the PROCTOR here- a device that projects near realistic VR images on the screen.
They turns the device on, and presses buttons for a few moments. A second later, the screen shows the layout and specific schematics of a floating platform shaped like a football.
JARYD (Cont.) Some are more fantastical, while others are based upon actual locations either here or historically speaking. It depends on what's being taught. This is an example of an assignment from a dual-historical Drafting class.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI (looking at the screen) Reminds me of an old soldier transport from the Founding.
JARYD (surprised, to AC Second Class Dez- Lei) Oh, really? I was not aware one of our youths surmised alien tech so closely sight unseen.
AC SECOND CLASS DEZ-LEI Ancient tech, actually. But still impressive for a Grade-5 species.
JARYD ...Grade-5?
RAIVEN (whispers to Jaryd) Till a very short time ago, we didn't know this planet even existed. Though Grade-5's the bottom of the PI scale...it's still a compliment.
JARYD (nods, whispers back to Raiven) Right then. (full voice, to the rest of the group) Let's head to the top floor. There's a beautiful 4th dimensional theatre space you should definitely see.
CUT TO:
INT. THEATRE SPACE- A Few Minutes Later
The group walking inside a black-box style theatre in the school's upper floor, complete with seating for roughly a few hundred. We see Steggy break away from the group a few moments later as Jaryd's speaking, heading off-screen right.
JARYD The stands of the theatre can descend and ascend from the walls at will. Which makes upkeep a great deal easier following shows or assemblies or the like.
