Rock the Vouhhhn…!, Chapter 1: Part 1.2
Page 3 Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. A few seconds later, we see Madison jolted from her boredom by the louder, more forceful repeat from her boss. CAPTION: Madison Mitchell; Age- 33; Former DNC Analyst Now Staffer, Dearborn County (IN) Democratic Party; Has Asperger's, and a Low Tolerance for Stupid People. JESSE (Off-Panel, louder) Madison!! Panel 2: Cut to a shot of the boss in question, JESSE SORRENTINO- a middle aged man with a slight glint of youth in his eyes. He's dressed in a short sleeved polo shirt and a pair of black slacks; his hair Reed Richards-esque in style and in the placement of gray on the sides. In the background behind his head, you can see the logo for the Dearborn County Democratic Party on the wall. JESSE (apologetic, to Madison) Sorry if I startled you. Just wanted an update on your search for a new candidate. Panel 3: Back to Madison a few moments later, after composing herself slightly. As she addresses the boss, her left hand is pointing toward the screen to emphasize her point. MADISON (matter of factly, to Jesse) I went through every name the State party and DCCC sent us. They're either too self-serving or egotistical to wanna play the sacrificial lamb. Panel 4: Back to Jesse with a slightly perplexed look on his face after hearing the update; his left hand on his hip while his right flops down on his side. JESSE Even Cartwright said no...? Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. After receiving a strong nod from his subordinate, he shakes his head and lets out a frustrated sigh. JESSE (Cont.) Okay. Well...keep on plugging along, Maddie. There's still another week before the deadline locks in. Worst comes to worse, we can always pop over to that Z-Farm in Greendale and pick up a meatslab to run against Jenkins. Panel 6: Cut back to Madison at her chair; the setting and layout the same as when we last saw her in the middle of the previous page. She has a slightly quizzical look on her face in terms of her boss' comment. MADISON Is that even legal? Page 4 Panel 1: Jesse glances over and shrugs at the question, flashing a look of genuine cluelessness as to the answer. At the same time, you can see him start to shift his body to begin trying to walk away from the conversation. JESSE That's a question for Legal to handle. Not like we'd ever try to pull it off though. I mean- a zombie Congressman? Panel 2: Back to Madison in the same setting/layout as the top of the page. You can see her silently pondering the thought to herself as he walks off. CAPTION: (Cont., from Jessie) "The American people make questionable decisions sometimes...but not that questionable!" MADISON(thought bubble)He's right, it is a crazy idea. But not so crazy as a launching pad to a better job- maybe head my own campaign. Panel 3: Cut to a shot from the computer screen a few moments later with Madison back at work, going through the names and carefully examining the contact information of other potential candidates. With each sentence she utters, you can see a visual approximation of the thought. MADISON And short term... Panel 4: In the upper left corner of Panel 4 above the young woman, you can see a large stack of money going up to the tip top. MADISON (Cont., just below Panel 5) County party would get a great deal of money from outside donors cheering us on to beat the guy that we can use for up ballot races. Panel 5: In the middle of Panel 4 above Madison's head, showing a thick textbook with "DA DEM RULES." MADISON (just below Panel 6) On the personal side, I can tout myself as an "outside the box" thinker to the bigwigs, ready to engage in a strategy that better fits our...thoroughly bananas present times. Just the kind of stuff to get the national party excited over me...welcome me back to D.C. Panel 6: In the upper right corner to Madison of Panel 4, showing a picture of the young woman on the cover of the Washington Post in a very heroic type fashion. MADISON (just below Panel 7) And if, somehow we win, well... Panel 7: We move to a close-up of that image from Panel 7, showing a photo on the front page of Madison and the zombie candidate standing side by side at a victory rally. The headline above reads- "30-Something Wunderkind Makes History in Indiana."
