Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 2: Part 1.2
Page 28
Panel 1: Action shot of Duncan and Madison shaking each other's hands a minute later; the Gabber Harry and the cage behind them in the background.
DUNCAN
(professional, to Madison)
Welcome to the team, Ms. Mitchell.
MADISON
(slight nod, to Duncan)
Thank you, Mr. Simons. And thank you for the accommodation. Can't wait to dive in head first strategy-wise. I've been experimenting with some policy ideas that I think could--
DUNCAN
In due time...
Panel 2: Cut to Mr. Simons examining the creature through the other side of the metal cage displaying a curious body language as he speaks.
DUNCAN
(Cont.)
First, I wanna see this "Gabber" in action. Make sure this isn't all some long con like that dip in Colorado a few years back.
Panel 3: Back to Madison a few feet away from him, glancing down at the tablet and quickly typing something into the touchscreen as she answers his questions.
MADISON
Right. It's actually pretty simple, once I got through the stack of instructions the Manager left. All I have to do is type the words on this tablet and...
Panel 4: Cut to a close-up of Harry's head a few moments later. As he speaks, you can see a little electric jolt from the top right side of his face signaling the speech reaching him the millisecond before.
HARRY
Weare slaying dat somethin' is wroong... with capitillism.... There must be better distribution of wealth and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism.
Panel 5: Back to Duncan; the setting and layout similar to what we saw in Panel 2. He lets out a chuckle at the recitation, flashing a smile tinged with a touch of concern.
DUNCAN
Fascinating! The text is not, I hope, what you were trying to sell me earlier.
DUNCAN
(reacting/ignoring Panel 6, Bubble 1; Bubble 2)
Good, good. The slurring at the start is a bit of a concern, I must say...
Panel 6: Cut to the young woman glancing up from the screen slightly in Duncan's direction; the setting and layout similar to what we saw in Panel 3.
MADISON
(agreeing)
Of course not. That's just...a favorite quote from high school. But I think something along those lines could work campaign wise, especially with--
MADISON
(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 5, Bubble 2)
That's the system warming up. It straightens itself out after a few minutes, as you noticed.
Page 29
Panel 1: Back to Duncan in the same setting as Panel 5 of the previous page. The layout widens a little bit, coinciding with him turning around and heading back to his office; his head tilted over his shoulder in Ms. Mitchell's direction.
DUNCAN
Good to know. Take "Harry" and meet the Advance team- settle what kind of protections we need to put in place.
Panel 2: Action shot a few moments later with Duncan in the foreground, and Madison in the background tracking behind him trying to catch up. You can see Harry caged up between them in the background looking off to the left.
MADISON
Actually, I--I was hoping to maybe get in touch with the speechwriters, hammer out the message--
DUNCAN
(interjecting)
They've already got a handle on messaging. Right now, I need you to work out any security details for venues and for general protection of the rest of the staff.
MADISON
(Bubble 2)
Okay. But we should try to hammer something out as quick as possible, make sure that--
Panel 3: Cut to a side shot of the two of them standing face to face with a few steps between them. You can see a borderline exasperated look on the campaign manager's face as he tries to keep his cool against the eager busy bee attitude from Ms. Mitchell.
DUNCAN
You're a go-getter, Ms. Mitchell- I get it! You want to be higher up on the food chain in this campaign. Know this: The only way you're moving up is not by kissassing, it's by doing the work...!
Panel 4: Action shot with the same setting and layout as Panel 2. The lone difference here is that Madison has stopped walking while Mr. Simons continues on to his office as before.
DUNCAN
(Cont.)
Starting with touching base with the Advance team. If that isn't to your liking, you know where the exit is.
Panel 5: Cut to a shot of Madison wheeling in "Harry" minutes later through the door to the medium-sized office where the Advance team. You can see a look of begrudging acceptance to getting short changed.
Caption: (Cont., from Duncan's statement) "There are plenty of peeps here just like you who can handle typing on a tablet."
