Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 3: Part 1.1
Page 54
Panel 1: We open on a shot of Nate at the same time that we ended Chapter 2, listening to the spiel from the GOTV worker with a look of annoyance on his face.
GOTV WORKER
(Off-Panel, to Nate)
Are you planning to vote in the next election?
NATE
Absolutely. I've never missed an election since I left the service...
GOTV WORKER
(Off-Panel, Bubble 2)
You were in the military? Nice! I have a cousin who was in the Air Force. She's stationed up in Thousand Oaks.
NATE
(thought bubble as the Worker trails off; Bubble 2)
Oh, hell! I know he's doing his job, but...this is getting annoying. Quick.
Panel 2: Back to the GOTV worker in the same setting/layout as the end of Chapter 2. He chuckles a bit at the statement, flashing a tiny bit of a smirk.
GOTV WORKER
Have you settled on a Top 3 for November?
Panel 3: Back to Nate in the same setting/layout as Panel 1. His tone of voice shifts toward an increased snarkiness connected to the question.
NATE
Shaw and Porter are 1-2 for me at this point. Probably leave the 3rd slot open. I know I'd definitely rather have a Grunter than that gasbag Nicklaus represent us in Sacramento.
Panel 4: Same setting/layout as Panel 2. The GOTV worker laughs- a little louder than he was before; one of the cards at the top shifting slightly- subconsciously ready to hand it o Nate- as the whole remains intact.
GOTV WORKER
(agreeing)
Here here...the party's always on the lookout for canvassers, if you're interested.
Panel 5: Same setting/layout as Panel 3. Nate shakes his head at the statement; his body beginning to turn back around to walk back to his apartment.
NATE
If I've got enough time
GOTV WORKER
(Off-Panel)
That's okay...
Panel 6: Cut to a side shot of the GOTV worker extending the card from Panel 4 over to Nate who looks on respectfully; his body half-way there and walking away.
GOTV WORKER
(Cont.)
The election's still 6-7 months out.

Panel 1: We move to a shot of Madison outside a newspaper building a short time after we last saw her in Chapter 2. She is looking out, waiting for someone with the tablet gripped in her right hand.
Caption: (Cont., from the end of his line) "There's plenty of time, if things free up for ya."
Panel 2: Cut to a shot of BUTLER walking a handful of steps away toward her position. He's wearing a salmon colored buttoned-up T-shirt with a collar and a pair of blue jeans; his face and body ever the embodiment of frat boy entitlement.
Panel 3: Action shot of the two of them moments later walking side by side in casual conversation. In the background is a platform and a section of the crowd cheering.
BUTLER
(slightly surprised, to Madison)
Your living-impaired puppet's doing an editorial Q&A in half an hour- why the hell did you wanna see me?
MADISON
Well, I've heard the rally schedule's gonna be ramping back up soon. I had some ideas on messaging speechwise I was hoping to--
BUTLER
(interjecting)
Not. A. Chance, sweetheart.
Panel 4: We move to a slight close-up on Butler a moment later, stopping and turning his head toward Ms. Mitchell with a degree of consternation in his eyes.
BUTLER
(Cont.)
Things haven't changed in terms of your job description. We give you the speech, you type it up, the ghoul speaks, crowd cheers- that's it.
BUTLER
(reacting to Panel 5, Bubble 1; Bubble 2)
"Modicum of Say-So?" Jesus tap dancing...you've been here a month and two weeks! The only say-so you've earned is which donuts you have- after the senior staff.
Panel 5: Cut to Madison who's also stopped at this point, taking to a defensive tact mixed with anger at the situation he's throwing back at her.
MADISON
I'm Mr. Skelton's Vocal Assistant. I think that entitles me to a modicum of say-so to what he stands for.
MADISON
(reacting to Panel 4, Bubble 2; Bubble 2)
You've seen the polls. We're still in the high teens. Now is the time to think outside the box!
Panel 6: Back to Butler in the same setting/layout as Panel 4. Reacting to the end of the previous panel, he laughs hysterically at the statement; his mind already walking away from the conversation before his body follows.
BUTLER
That is rich! You know there are still some of us who want to work in politics after November, right?
