Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 3: Part 3.1
Page 66
Panel 1: Madison barges into her office a short time later, flashing the same conflicting emotions from the end of the previous page as she speaks.
MADISON
(to Aimee)
What went wrong?
MADISON
(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 2, Bubble 1)
The non-answer you just gave me begs to differ!
Panel 2: Cut to Aimee at her chair, glancing up as Ms. Mitchell is barging in. She leans back slightly in her chair, absorbing the emotions from the co-worker while readying her response.
AIMEE
(calming, to Madison)
Nothing went wrong.
AIMEE
(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 1, Bubble 2)
The director just think the message is too..."lefty" for the district. It'd make winning all but an impossibility.
Panel 3: Madison nods slightly at the statement, though ready with a retort in her mind that furthers her point.
MADISON
Back in the Stupid Ages, before the War- maybe. But Cambridge City elected a Democratic Socialist mayor in the last election. Columbus hasn't had a majority white city council for decades. Not to mention Versailles' the biggest solar panel maker in the state! The possibility is far greater than--
AIMEE
(interjecting, Off-Panel)
There are also towns like Anderson that are ivory ass white and wish the Stupid Ages came back. Towns with a good chunk of votes we need in the district.
Panel 4: Back to Aimee in the same setting/layout as Panel 2. She sees the rage building and increases her efforts to calm her down, leaning away from the seat cushion as she speaks.
AIMEE
(Cont.)
On the plus side, even though he's not onboard with a series of test balloons, he did give us carte blanche to go crazy on one issue that's popped up.
Panel 5: Back to Madison in the same setting/layout as Panel 3. She's relieved- at least a little bit- by the positive development. Though curious about the last part of her response.
MADISON
What's the issue?
Panel 6: Cut to an action shot of Aimee walking over to the side of the desk where her purse is located. The fingers of her left hand can be seen gracing the top of the desk as she speaks.
AIMEE
How much do you know about Tiered Farming?
Page 67
Panel 1: Back to Ms. Mitchell a few moments later. She ponders the question, piecing together little fragments of knowledge as she speaks into an answer.
MADISON
Not a lot. Ummm...I know it's mostly a coastal thing- San Francisco, Seattle, New New York, L.A., San Diego. Also in a few places globally- London, Mumbai, Sydney. Basically anywhere with big food needs and little space.
Panel 2: Action shot of the speechwriter, in a squat and searching through the opened purse; her gaze focused on Madison's general vicinity.
AIMEE
In a nutshell. There's legislation in the state House to open up tiered farming here in Indiana, along with--
AIMEE
(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 4, Bubble 1)
True. But the Jenkins campaign came out with a statement a few days ago, saying he'll introduce a similar bill in the House that'd make the district a statewide hub for tiered farming.
Panel 3: Back to Madison in the same setting/layout as Panel 2. She chuckles disbelievingly at the further explanation, knowing the legislation being mentioned.
MADISON
(interjecting)
HB 44. I remember seeing a blurb on the news weeks ago. I thought it was still bogged down in committee.
Panel 4: Cut to a close-up shot of their hands exchanging a USB drive. Aimee's hand is located to the right of the panel view, and Madison's hand to the left of the panel view grabbing the top of the drive.
Caption: (Aimee) "Here's a PDF of the legislation. The Director wants a few good lines for a local TV interview coming up."
Caption: (Cont., Aimee) "Basically anything that shows how bad the plan without making us look insufficiently 'green.' Bonus points if they're funny- you think you can do that?"
Panel 5: We move to Madison turning around and walking out of her office moments later. You can see Aimee partially in the background sitting back down to work once again.
Caption: (Madison) "I think so...yeah!"
