Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 3: Part 4.1

Page 72

Panel 1: We move back to the computer screen, just as we did in Panel 4 of the previous page. The difference is that the browser on the left side then has taken full presence; a new tab showing a blank white search bar.

MADISON

(Off-Panel, thought bubble)

I heard about these guys back when I was still in D.C.

Panel 2: A few moments later, underneath the typing, we see the word ARC pop up in the search bar that we saw in the previous panel.

MADISON

(Cont. Off-Panel, thought bubble)

It might be a reach. They mainly work on the coasts, but they do have some friends in conservative D.C.

Panel 3: Cut to the result of the search, showing a long string of alternate page titles- each one as far off as the next. At the top is the name for the organization American Reform Council. You can see the mouse arrow move toward that top result.

MADISON

(Cont. Off-Panel, thought bubble)

Also, if I remember the "Dark Money" section from Public Policy, the more eviller lobby groups did the most damages in the shadows with...

Panel 4: A few moments later, we see the homepage for ARC pop up. It should resemble stylistically the actual homepage of the American Legislative Executive Council (ALEC). Near the top left section is a link named "MODEL BILLS."

MADISON

(Off-Panel thought bubble)

Model bills! My respect for the commitment to evil douchebaggery. Let's see if there's any...

Panel 5: Back to Madison in the same setting/layout as the end of Page 71. A slight grin comes over her face as she clicks on the link from the previous panel, subsequently beginning the search.

MADISON

(Cont., thought bubble)

Ohhh-ho-ho-hoo...that's even better!

Panel 6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The grin is gone, replaced by a look of exhaustion on her face; her eyes a little heavier than we saw in the aforementioned Panel 5. In the bottom of the panel view, Madison's phone is ringing.

Panel 1: After a few rings, the young woman's seen answering the phone which is placed up against her ear. She stretches her neck after the long time spent crouched down at the computer screen (which is partially visible in the right of the panel view).

MADISON

(confused)

Hey Unc...what's wrong?

JAMES

(through the receiver, to Madison)

What, I can't call my favorite niece out of a whim?

MADISON

(Bubble 2)

You can. But most times you've called me during session involve some worry that I've had- or will have- a meltdown.

JAMES

(Bubble 2)

It's not one of those calls, my dear.

Panel 2: We move to an interior shot of Rep. Brock in the halls of the State Capitol building during recess. He chuckles slightly at Ms. Mitchell's last statement. You can see a collection of other Representatives in the background walking in both directions.

JAMES

(Cont., reassuring)

I've just been seeing your candidate flop about, and- just wanted to see how your head was.

Panel 3: Back to Madison who sighs at the sentiment to the statement, leaning against the cushion of her very small couch; her eyes looking up to the ceiling.

MADISON

My head's okay. Though I'm not entirely sure it's "my candidate." I've basically been stuck since the beginning typing up whatever the speechwriters gave me.

JAMES

(through the receiver)

Aww..don't worry. It'll get better in time- just gotta keep steady.

MADISON

(Bubble 2)

I know. I think that time might be coming though.

JAMES

(Bubble 2)

How so?

MADISON

(Bubble 2)

You know about HB 44?

Panel 4: Back to James in the same setting/layout as Panel 2. He lets out a pained groan, nodding at the question.

JAMES

It's not my committee, but I've definitely heard about it...and smelled the damn thing when they introduced it.

MADISON

(through the receiver)

Well, I got the Comms director to help generate a response that delegitimized the bill while not making us seem anti-environment. And also to be funny, if possible.

Panel 5: Same setting as the previous panel. The layout changes slightly, focusing in on the veteran politician's face. We see him holding in a big belly laugh that wants to burst out of him like a pinata.

JAMES

Oh wow. You must definitely be...
