Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 4: Part 1.2

Page 81

Panel 1: Cut back to the young man a few moments later, chuckling awkwardly back at the Barista; his eyes glancing over to the menu as he speaks.

NATE

(to the Barista, apologetically)

Yeah, yeah. Sorry 'bout that...I'll take an organic hot chocolate with whipped cream.

Panel 2: The barista looks at his order with a slightly annoyed look at Mr. Kelly's order tinged out of familiarity from other, equally weird orders.

BARISTA

(somewhat sarcastic to Nate)

I'm guessing a gluten free cookie too.

BARISTA

(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 3, Bubble 1)

Okie dokie...

Panel 3: Back to Nate in the same setting/layout as Panel 1. He shakes his head forcefully, partially annoyed by the smart alec remark.

NATE

Just a regular big chocolate chip cookie.

(Bubble 2, thought bubble; reacting to Panel 2, Bubble 2)

Nice to know L.A. bashing's still a thing.

Panel 4: We move back to the Barista behind the register typing up the order into the keypad as she speaks.

BARISTA

That'll be...$10.75, Cali.

Panel 5: Cut to a slight close-up on Nate's face, reacting with a bit of puzzlement at the end of the statement; his hands, off-panel, reaching for his wallet.

NATE

It's not "Cali." It's just California. Also, how did you know I'm from California?

Panel 6: Back to the Barista in the same setting/layout as Panel 4. She grins more playfully than in Panel 2, awaiting to take the man's debit card from him.

BARISTA

Didn't take much sleuthing, dude. The Clipper jersey sticking out of your bag was a pretty dead giveaway.

Page 82

Panel 1: Nate glances down at the bag to his left, which (as she mentioned at the end of the previous page) is sticking out of the top of it.

Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A few seconds later, he reaches down to push the jersey back inside the bag.

BARISTA

(Off-Panel, reacting to the scene)

Hahaha...!

Panel 3: Cut to the young man seated on one of the stools with his cocoa and cookie a few minutes later. In the background is a thin touch screen which advertises a service called "Star-Fi." As he's eating, you can see his phone start ringing in his pocket.

Panel 4: He answers the phone a few moments later, swallowing the bit of cookie he was eating in the previous panel a split second before he speaks.

NATE

Hello?

SUE

(from the receiver, to Nate)

Afternoon Nate, it's Sue Thome over at ICT. Have you gotten to town yet?

NATE

(Bubble 2)

Just did, yeah. Feeling drained though- been up since about 7 A.M. packing. I've just started chugging a ton of sugar before I go to Baggage Claim.

Panel 5: Cut to Sue standing in the middle of the ICT stage, overseeing as techs work on the lighting as she speaks. You can see others in the background cleaning things up with a vacuum.

NATE

(Cont., from the receiver)

So, what's up? I thought the creators' meeting was tomorrow night.

SUE

It is. But I wanted to get in touch with you beforehand 'cause there's been some trouble with the role of the Zombie.
