Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 4: Part 2.1

Page 84

Panel 1: A two-part set of panels that stays on the same setting/layout as the end of the previous page. She's off the phone, which lays screen up on the edge of the table in front of her.

Panel 2: In Part 2, we see the young woman still looking directly at the phone deep in thought, just as it was in Panel 1. Off-panel and to the left, you can hear the sound of a door creak.

MADISON

(thought bubble)

Guess I'll go for store bought chocolate pie for dessert...still pretty good.

MADISON

(to Darren, Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 3, Bubble 1)

No worries.

Panel 3: Cut to Darren, the Communications Director, stepping through the doorway moments later, dressed in a gray suit. He glances over in Ms. Mitchell's direction and plasters a smile on his face.

DARREN

(to Madison)

Ms. Mitchell, good morning. My apologies for the wait- the call with the ad director over at KNDY ran a little longer than expected.

Panel 4: Action shot showing Darren walking around the edge of the room's long table; the top of a small refrigerator visible in the bottom of the panel view, which he happens to be pointing to as he speaks.

DARREN

(Cont.)

You want water? Soda?

Panel 5: Back to a close-up of Madison following along as one of her boss' starts to take a seat off-panel. As she speaks, she pushes the seat closer to the table.

MADISON

(shaking her head)

I'm okay...

Panel 6: Cut to a shot of Darren seated at the other end of the table to the young man. In front of him, you can see a folder lying flat with no labeling on it.

DARREN

Okie dokie...I imagine you know why you're here, right?

Panel 1: Back to Madison a moment later, nodding at the question; a tinge of anxiety coming in the pit of her stomach at the moment.

DARREN

(Off-Panel)

Fantastic...!

Panel 2: Darren places his hand on top of the folder as he speaks. You can see his general demeanor become much more serious compared to the previous page.

DARREN

(Cont.)

Then we can sidestep the pleasantries and get to why the hell you're in my office- the interview.

Panel 3: We move back to Ms. Mitchell in the same setting/layout as Panel 1. She leans a little closer to Darren, placing her elbows on the table just next to the phone.

MADISON

(defensive)

Okay, I know it wasn't as planned out originally, sir. But I saw the opening to hit him hard on HB 44, and I thought the connection with his lobbyist brother was--

MADISON

(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 4, Bubble 1)

My gut's telling me there's value in the attack, politically, sir! No other candidate's ever had the stones- really- to hit him over it.

Panel 4: Back to Darren in the same setting/layout as Panel 2, letting out an annoyed sigh which drifts down under and to the left panel view of his chin.

DARREN

(interjecting)

"You thought..." A running theme when it comes to your time on this campaign.

Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel; a second having passed by. He slowly opens the manila folder, continuing on the main thought from Panel 4.

DARREN

(Cont.)

Let's take a look at some of your other gut calls over the past two- three weeks.
