Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 5: Part 2.2

Page 112 (Chapter 5, Page 9)

Panel 1: Cut to a shot of Madison looking over in the Captain’s direction, watching the rest of the situation from the end of the previous page play out. The only visual cue we the reader get is the sound of a scream emanating from the drunk man.

MADISON

(Cont.)

Solves plenty of problems with Henry in the short term, and gives us some entertainment to boot.

Panel 2: Back to Zoe with a little bit more of a cautious look on her face, leaning forward toward her friend.

ZOE

(to Madison)

Yeah, just leaving the bigger problems- how to pay for ads, what the campaign schedule’s gonna like, what the message is gonna be, how the hells are we gonna win…

Panel 3: Back to Madison in the same setting/layout as Panel 1. She leans back toward Ms. Olson, reaching out to grab her drink placed on the edge of the table to the right of the panel view.

MADISON

(not worried, to Zoe)

True. But thankfully, I’ve prepared for a situation just like this.

Panel 4: Back to Zoe in the same setting/layout as Panel 2. She chuckles at the statement, flashing a sly grin as she speaks.

ZOE

I knew there was a Leslie Knope in that buzzy hornet’s nest of a brain…!

Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A split second after saying that, her body language shifts to a mix of confusion and slight anxiety in terms of what she just said.

ZOE

(Cont., seeking clarification)

That’s okay to say about autistic people- the hornet’s nest thing?

Panel 6: Cut back to Ms. Mitchell in the same setting/layout as the top of the page. She glances over in Zoe’s direction while also searching for something in her bag, which is placed on her lap.

MADISON (slight shrug) Good for me, since we’re friends...and it accurately describes how my brain operates most days. For other peeps like me- you’d have to ask them.

Page 113 (Chapter 5, Page 10)

Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. It composes of her pulling out a thick white binder and placing it down on the counter right alongside her drink.

Panel 2: Same setting as the previous panel. The layout changes slightly, along with the brief passage of time, to show her flipping through the pages in search of a particular point in time.

ZOE

(Off-Panel)

I hope you got a massive donor list somewhere in all of that.

MADISON

(slight chuckle, to Zoe)

Who needs an ingrained donor list when we have you…!

Panel 3: Cut to Zoe’s very puzzled face, confused over precisely what her friend was talking about.

ZOE

Chica, you’ve seen my bank account. Ya know that’s crap.

Panel 4: Back to Ms. Mitchell a beat later; the layout a little closer than we saw back in Panel 2. She glances up from the book slightly to address her. You can see partially the lines of some of the pages in the lower section of the panel.

MADISON

(explanatory)

I’m referring to your skill as a filmmaker. Didn’t you used to do camera work for Youtube?

Panel 5: We move back to Ms. Olson in the same setting/layout as Panel 3. She nods slightly at the question, though still as puzzled as she was then. You can see her hand reaching down panel to grab her glass as she speaks.

ZOE Years ago, when I was starting out. I’m still not sure what it has to do with the campaign though.
