Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 5: Part 4.3

Page 126 (Chapter 5, Page 23)

Panel 1: Nate chuckles and nods to the side casually, accepting the spirit of the explanation; the can firmly gripped in his right hand, along with one of the two spoons.

NATE Nice case. Personally, I wouldn’t mind just landing an audition for an indie film. Hell, even a sitcom for a streaming site would be…

Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. His train of thought is interrupted by his phone vibrating in his left pocket. He glances down in the direction of the phone.

ROWENA (Off-Panel)

That your Lyft?

NATE Possibile. Not sure really...

Panel 3: Slight close-up on the young man a moment later, now holding the cell phone and glancing down on the screen. You can see the jolt of shock and excitement in his eyes, denoting what exactly it is.

Panel 4: Back to a shot of Rowena looking on from the other side of the platform, now holding the can of beans. She’s thoroughly intrigued through the stretched out pause between here and Panel 3.

ROWENA Well? What is it then? Panel 5: Back to Nate in the same setting/layout as Panel 3. He gives a half-grin toward his friend, hinting at the overall answer.

NATE Proof of that lucky bean can, if I had to guess.

Panel 1: We move to a shot of Madison back in the new campaign HQ, a few days after we left them last. She’s positioned in the same way that Mr. Kelly was at the end of the previous page, glancing at the phone and deep in thought.

ZOE (Off-Panel) Big day today?

Panel 2: A two-part set of panels that moves back to Zoe in another part of the modest looking apartment. She’s going through the closet to pick out a hat from the top of it, looking over her shoulder in Ms. Mitchell’s direction.

ZOE

(Cont.)

The first rally of the new Henry Skelton for Congress campaign. A really big moment for us- yet you’re quite silent.

Panel 3: In Part 2, she starts to turn more of her body around to face Madison with a renewed rush of curiosity upon noticing the deep level of thought dedicated to what’s on the phone.

ZOE

(Cont., concerned)

Which with you is usually not a good sign. What’s going on?

Panel 4: Back to Madison glancing up from the phone in Zoe’s direction for the first time. She yawns deeply, displaying as much as she can a degree of reassurance and calm to the question.

MADISON I’m--I’m okay. Just going through the speech one last time. I was pretty hyped up on Fwoop as I was writing it. So, I wasn’t sure if it still made sense if--

Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A split second later, her train of thought is interrupted by a simple “DING! DING!” coming from the phone’s notification ringtone. She looks back down at the phone screen; a jolt of visible confusion hitting her face.

MADISON What the…?

ZOE

(Off-Panel) What is it?

MADISON (Bubble 2) Someone from the Times is looking for a comment about...

Page 128 (Chapter 5, Page 25)

Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. Before she can finish her initial statement, the notification ringtone from before appears. This time, at a higher frequency, filling up the top of the panel view.

MADISON (Cont., increasingly more panicked) Now it’s the Guardian--NBC--the Post...about a crash?

(to Zoe)

You have any idea what it’s about?

Panel 2: Cut to a shot of Zoe with her phone out, glancing at the screen just as Ms. Mitchell was speaking. You can see on her face that she’s a few steps ahead of her friend in terms of knowing what’s going on.

ZOE Yeah. I do…

Panel 3: We move to a shot of Zoe’s phone, showing a story popped up on a local news site with the headline “Z-Farms In Hot Water After Highway 9 Attack.” The photo on the headline shows that the story in question is the Growler attack we saw earlier.

ZOE

(Cont., Off-Panel)

I wouldn’t be too eager to answer any of them.
