Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 6: Part 2.3
Page 139 (Chapter 6, Page 11)
Panel 1: Cut to a shot of Nate on the sidewalk just in front of his apartment building; his head tilted in the same way Zoe was at the end of the previous page. He’s dressed in workout clothes with a pair of earbuds in his ears, stretching his legs out as if getting ready for a run.
Caption
(Cont., Madison) “Definitely be worth it, in my book!”
Caption: Three Days Later
Panel 2: Action shot of the young man taking a jog moments later; the background of the front of his apartment building partially visible in the background. You can see a smattering of other people walking the opposite way on both sides.

Open PodNet app...play SC Playlist.
Panel 3: We move to a two-part set of panels minutes later, showing from the side as he jogs up to a crosswalk more closely visible to the right of the panel view; the podcast chatter flowing out of his earbuds. As he’s running, right at the tail end of the chatter, it turns into a basic ringtone.
Panel 4: In Part 2, he stops at the edge of the crosswalk; his face caked with a decent amount of sweat, along with other parts of his body. You can see part of the pole to the right of the background as well as the console to activate the walking signal.
NATE Answer call…
(Bubble 2)
Hello?
RACHELLE (from the earbuds, to Nate) Is this Nate Kelly? NATE (Bubble 3)
Speaking…
Panel 5: Cut to a shot of RACHELLE CHEN, the director that we saw at the start of the issue. She’s standing in front of a massive poster of Mulan in the background hanging on the wall.
RACHELLE Hi Nate, this is Rachelle. The director of “The T Line.” How are you doing?
NATE (from the phone speaker) I’m good...I thought the casting announcement wasn’t for another week.
RACHELLE (Bubble 2) It is, and I’m sad to say you didn’t get cast in it.
Panel 6: Back to Nate in the same setting/layout as Panel 4. He looks a little disappointed by the last thing Ms. Chen mentioned, but equally a little intrigued at what she says a beat later.
RACHELLE (Cont., from the speaker) But there is good news- the studio’s got another project in the works around the same timeframe “T Line” would be shooting. It’s directed by a friend of mine’s directing, and there’s a role in it that I think you would be perfect for. If you’re interested.
MADISON What’s it about?

Panel 1: Cut to an action shot of Ms. Chen looking for something lying on a stack of documents piled up next to the keyboard. Part of a bookshelf is visible in the background of the shot as she speaks.
RACHELLE
It’s called “Peace Time.” It’s a romantic dramedy with a bit of a military bent, focused on a pair of veterans from the Wars who reunite--
Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Just as she gets into the stack of documents, there’s a noticeable “DING!” sound coming from off-panel left that catches her attention.
RACHELLE (pondering)
...One second.
Panel 3: Cut to a shot of the screen a minute later, showing her E-Mail Inbox. On the top of the screen is a message from someone named Joel regarding the “investor meeting 7/22,” according to the subject line. Below said message is one from a Dolly with the subject line “HOLY CRAP SO GOOD!”
Panel 4: Meanwhile, back at street level, we see the young man resuming his jog amongst the period of silence that follows Rachelle’s line from Panel 2. You can see part of the side of another building to the right of the panel view.
NATE
(thought bubble)
I’ve always wanted to do something in the romantic realm. Didn’t really think I had a shot at it, given my age. Let’s hear a little more about the character and the script- the pay, too- before I commit to anything.
Panel 5: We move to a slight close-up on Mr. Kelly a short time later; the background now full of the front of the building that was visible in the previous panel. You can also see a handful of people behind the glass door chatting and/or moving to the right.
RACHELLE
(from the speaker)
Sorry about that- just finishing an E-Mail that popped up.
Panel 6: Back to Rachelle leaning against her chair, reading from the document that is firmly gripped in both hands. You can see part of the poster from a page or two ago behind in the background.
RACHELLE
(Cont.)
The character I had in mind for you is Charles, Ron’s best friend from the service. He’s kind of the comic relief, but he has some great dramatic moments too.
