Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 6: Part 4.2

Page 149 (Chapter 6, Page 21)

Panel 1: We move back to Nate later after we saw him earlier in the chapter, sitting on his couch and looking up something on his laptop; the glow of the device shining a white glow on his somewhat sullen face.

NATE

(thought bubble)

Technically, I still have a job. I wasn’t fired, just given paid time off...with no idea when it’ll end. That’s a plus- a microscopic one, but still...

(thought bubble 2)

Can’t get uber mopey yet! There’s a possible movie and more than possible money out on the table for me.

Panel 2: We move to a shot over the young man’s shoulder of him scrolling down on the script pages, which are shown through its PDF formatting in the central part of the panel view.

NATE

(Cont., thought bubble)

One with a pretty damn good script at that. Really dig the character-

Panel 3: Cut to a shot of Nate’s face once more; the setting and layout similar to what we saw in Panel 1. You can see his demeanor brighten ever so slightly, though still displaying a degree of sadness from that aforementioned panel.

NATE

(Cont., thought bubble)

Some of the military stuff’s a little lacking accuracy wise. But it’s a rom-com: a little reality stretching only makes sense.

Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The phone rings from off-panel right after a few moments of silence. Mr. Kelly glances away from the laptop in that direction; the smile now fully visible on his face, hinting at who’s on the other end.

Panel 5: A few moments later, we see him holding his phone looking down at the message which pops up in a separate window toward the right hand section of the panel. It reads- “[huggle boop]” with a smiley face emoji at the end.

NATE

(chuckles)

Hmmm….we’ve hit the cutesy end of our relationship. That’s a good sign.

Panel 6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. You can see him a second later start to type out his response to the message; the glow of the laptop now only partially visible to the left of the panel view.

“We’ve still got a handful of scenes left till we can wrap.”

Panel 1: We move to a shot of Rowena in a hotel room somewhere alongside her Director of Photography Desiree. She’s seated cross legged on the middle section of the bed, listening as Desiree speaks; a layout of documents spread out in front of her.

DESIREE

(Off-Panel)

Including the opening scene outside the house.

ROWENA

I thought we took care of that.

Panel 2: A two-part set of panels that moves to a shot of Desiree slowly pacing around the center of the shot. As she speaks, her focus is split between addressing her friend and the schedule she’s holding in her left hand.

DESIREE

We were scheduled to reshoot that last week. But there was that freak dust storm, messed with the visibility. And then it kept going down the priority list due to the other reshoots...

ROWENA

(interjecting, Off-Panel)

Oh, right right. I remember now.

Panel 3: In Part 2, a few moments later, a ringtone cuts through the meat of her investigation. She looks up from the schedule fully in Ms. Marquez’ direction, flashing a playful grin as she guesses what exactly her friend’s doing.

DESIREE That the new third you’ve been chatting with…?

Panel 4: Rowena chuckles slightly at the question, shaking her head; her focus still peeled on to the phone typing up the response to the text as she speaks.

ROWENA

(explanatory) He’s not my new third. We’re still in the seeing out phase. But ya know…

Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A moment after she finishes sending the text, the young woman casually tosses the phone back on the bed next to her; her eyes fully returning to the business in front of her.

ROWENA

(Cont.)

So far, so good!
