Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 7: Part 1.2

Page 155 (Chapter 7, Page 3)

Panel 1: Cut to Jenkins in his office next to the bookcase (visible to the right of the panel view). He’s reading over a stack of documents filled with talking points (at least the top page of them that is visible in the shot). You can hear the sound of a door slamming off-panel, though the veteran Congressman doesn’t outwardly acknowledge it.

KANNA

(Off-Panel, to Rep. Jenkins)

We don’t need to get too wordy on the statement, sir.

Panel 2: Cut to the chief of staff a handful of feet away, walking carefully and with full respect to his superior as he’s explaining. You can see the entrance in the background along with the basic, yet ornate, fixturing of the rest of the office throughout the rest of the panel.

KANNA

(Cont.)

We keep it to 5-6 minutes tops, show contrition without outwardly buying into some of the accusations the Lefty media’s been chucking at us. Take a few questions from friendly outlets, and--

REP. JENKINS

(interjecting, Off-Panel)

That won’t work here.

Panel 3: Back to the Congressman in the same setting/layout as Panel 1. He glances up from the papers with a stern, serious look on his face as he explains.

REP. JENKINS

(Cont.) The story’s already been left out in the open too long. We need to rip the proverbial band aid off here, pull the full rationale behind the cuts at the time. Then we can get back to business, and you can get back to being my legislative gopher.

Panel 4: We move back to Kanna in a two-part set of panels; the setting and layout similar to what we saw in Panel 2. He nods firmly at the tail end of the statement, accepting of the decision albeit through metaphorical gritted teeth.

KANNA

Yes, sir. Very good idea, sir…

Panel 5: In part 2, we move to a slight close-up on his face a few moments later. From looking down toward the ground in the previous panel, he tilts his head back up toward his superior with a curious and slightly weary look on his face.

KANNA

(Cont.)

On that front, with all due respect- any idea when I’m gonna be out of the doghouse and back on the trail?

Panel 6: Back to Mr. Jenkins who flashes a slight grin at the question that is both stern, but not overly so in terms of Kanna’s employment. As he speaks, you can hear the sound of a ringing phone bubbling up from the bottom right of the panel.

REP. JENKINS

The same as the other four times you’ve asked- after election day!

Page 156 (Chapter 7, Page 4)

Panel 1: A few moments later, we see the Congressman on the phone speaking to the one who called him. You can partially see Kanna’s head in the distance of the background, listening to the conversation partially.

REP. JENKINS

(on the phone)

What’s the latest?

MACY

(through the receiver, to Rep. Jenkins)

We got Williams and Smith stumping over in Middletown and Winchester later today, keeping on the theme of the economy and the good unemployment numbers in the area.

Panel 2: Cut to a shot of the new campaign manager, MACY O’RYAN, standing in her office over at Jenkins’ headquarters. As she speaks, her eyes glance down toward a computer screen reading off the schedule on it.

MACY

(Cont.)

You’ve got that teleconference schmooze with our call center staff this afternoon. Nothing really complex there: just thank them for their work, “Keep up the good work!” and all that BS.

REP. JENKINS

(through the receiver)

Ugh, those are always hell…!

MACY

(Bubble 2)

But a necessary one! Then there’s the interview in your office at 4 with James over at the CBS affiliate.

Panel 3: Back to a shot of Jenkins’ face glaring over in Kanna’s direction as he nods at the final thing Ms. O’Ryan said.

REP. JENKINS

I remember. He’s a friendly, so shouldn’t have to worry about any Schumer Bay stuff…

Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Over the course of a few moments of silence, we see him mouth something over in Kanna’s direction- “What time is he coming?”

Panel 5: Cut to Kanna standing a few feet away from his boss. He looks back at him and flashes 11 fingers to represent 11 A.M. (the extra one via a shady version of his right hand to show the normal silent display of 11).

Panel 6: Back to Rep. Jenkins in the same setting/layout as Panel 3. He turns his attention back to the desk once again and the rest of the conversation back in Indiana.

REP. JENKINS

What’s the latest from the Ad Grunts? I’ve been itching for weeks to finally punch back on that undead prick and his ugly shrew puppeteer.
