Rock The Vouhhhnn!, Chapter 7: Part 2.3

Page 163 (Chapter 7, Page 11)

Panel 1: We move to a shot from the doorway back in showing Zoe at the far edge of the table, watching as the man steps out of the room. You can see the doorway a little over halfway from closing, but just enough to show her in the panel view.

Caption

(Cont., Jameson) “...It’ll fill you in better than I could!”

Panel 2: Cut to a screenshot of a news broadcast a short time after the end of the previous panel, showing Rep. Jenkins’ marathon press conference in the House press building just as it’s about to begin.

Panel 3: We move to a shot a beat later of Ms. Olson watching it with raft attention from the waiting room in the office building. She sits on one of the light gray chairs right on the edge of the cushion.

ZOE

This is what he was gloating about? Doesn’t look too bad…

Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A half hour in, the optimistic body language that she displayed in Panel 3 has changed to one of ominous dread upon hearing the news being dropped by the veteran Congressman.

ZOE

Fuck. Boss is gonna lose her ever loving mind when she sees this!

Panel 5: We move to a shot of Madison a short time later, watching footage of the press conference online from her phone in the car. You can see a little bit of the road behind her from the rearview.

MADISON

(thought bubble) And boom goes the lucky break…!

Caption (Madison)

“This could work well for us.”

Panel 1: Cut to a shot of Zoe back in HQ after the two of them sync back up again. She has a partially offended look on her face compared to what Ms. Mitchell said at the end of the previous page.

ZOE

How?! He’s saying our candidate’s a serial philanderer named Carl who faked his own death to weasel out of a marriage a year before the outbreak and changed his name to Henry.

Panel 2: Back to Madison on the couch looking over campaign scheduling on the tablet. She glances up at Ms. Olson’s direction to address her as she’s reading.

MADISON

All he has is an “unidentified source.” We can simply claim ignorance or fire back that it’s a plot concocted by the RNC and DNC--

Panel 3: We move back to Zoe in the same setting/layout as the top of the page. She flashes an unsure glance back toward her friend over her response, glancing toward the floor slightly as she speaks.

ZOE

That’s not what a friend of mine’s saying about it, Maddie. They’re saying they’ve got a goodly ton of receipts to back this claim up.

ZOE

(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 4, Bubble 1)

An old friend at the Indianapolis Star I used to date: Georgia. I phoned her just as his press conference was ending. She’s their Congressional Correspondent, so her info’s pretty good.

Panel 4: Back to Madison in the same setting/layout as Panel 2. She looks up fully from the screen toward Zoe’s direction, touching it gently with her left hand; her level of intrigue heightened upon her statement.

MADISON

Who’s “they?”

MADISON

(Bubble 2; reacting to Panel 3, Bubble 2)

I’ll keep it in mind...

Panel 5: We move back to Zoe in a ponderous mode to Ms. Mitchell’s suggestion; the setting and layout similar to Panel 3. You can see her thumb and forefinger pressed on her chin, partially interested in the idea while she’s thinking.

MADISON

(Cont., Off-Panel)

I still think ignorance can be useful whatever strategy we use to get through this. I mean, the packet Z-Farms sent me wasn’t exactly brimming with highly detailed information on Henry- just basic DOA stuff.
